This stuff is delicious, adds 'sparkle' to all kinds of food, great in kimchee (you don't need much) and is very potent. One negative - be careful when you first start consuming it as it can be irritating to your intestinal and bladder tracks. That's all I'll say!

These are Red Pepper Granules NOT flakes.
I have not used these yet to make my many variations of Kimchi, however I think they will work along with a few actual pepper FLAKES.
Just wish they would have described them correctly.
The taste is indeed reminiscent of Korean cooking.

I just started making my own kimchi and other Korean dishes. This red pepper powder is perfect for Korean dishes. I've used it for fresh cucumber salad and fresh Korean green leaf salad....delicious! I store mine in the freezer in the convenient zip top bag it came in.

I bought tae-Kyung korean red chilli pepper flakes powder for kimchi that I was making it. It arrived quickly and tightly sealed in a ziplock bag. The bag teared easy so I didn't need scissors. When I was done using the bag securing it closed with the ziplock didn't cause me any issues the bag closed right up. This is the first purchase of korean red chili peppers I've ever purchased. By the size of the bag I don't think I'll be purchasing any for awile. The smell is a smokey smell, and the color is deep red, it definitely gave that spice and smokeyNess that my kimchi needed.

I bought this for a Korean Ddeokbokki recipe. I've learned to make my own rice cakes and had previously made it with just gojugang. These pepper flakes give it more depth and flavor. When you open the package you get a floral smell but not overpoweringly. I never used to like hot spices, but the older I get the more I like them, so for me a tiny bit goes a long way.
It will probably take me three years to use this entire pound package but it was worth it. I will find a way to sneak it in everything I make.
