Perfect for making yogurt
BobJuly 14, 2017
We make our own yogurt so it's essential that it registers top temperature as well as lower setting. Wife thinks it's great.
I purchased this unit because I cost more so it must be better.

Today January 5, 2017 I purchased this temperature probe in May 2016 and the first time using it it quit working. Amazon sent me another unit. Today January 5, 2017 I was going to use it and it is reading 150 degrees at room temperature. I purchased this unit because I cost more so it must be better.

Today February 6, 2017. I found that if there is any moisture, at all, on the plug or receptacle for the temperature probe the unit reads high. I made sure is was dry, I mean very dry, it reads correctly. I purposely dampened the probe with a little water from my finger and it read high again. So, keep it dry and it will work. Don't think it should be so temperamental.
Perfect for cooling temperatures.

I use this thermometer for making yogurt. It lets me know when the milk comes to 180 and then again once it cools down to 110. Most thermometers only alarm for reaching a temp not for cooling. This has saved me many times because I get working on something else while I am waiting for my milk to cool. Love it!!!
Re calibration???
Michelle MedowsSeptember 16, 2015
I have used this item about 10 times and it is now reading 150 degrees when it is at room temperature and there is no way to re calibrate it. I would suggest buying one that can be re calibrated so you don't have to buy a new one every time this happens. It did work well until this point but I wish I would have bought something else.
Love this thermometer, but...

I had a hard time deciding between 4 and 5 stars. 5 stars because of ease of use and features. I love it so much I'm buying another one. But that would be the reason to downgrade it to 4 stars- this will be my third. Longevity is not its virtue.
