Doesn't play music with iPhone 30 PIN adapter for newer iPhones/iPods

Only works with older iPhone/iPod with 30 PIN connector. And before you say "duh", I'm meaning, it won't even work with a newer model iPhone/iPod with the lightning to 30 PIN connector. I have an older iPhone 5c I passed down to my daughter. I knew when I bought this that this only accepted the 30 PIN connector for the dock but I had the adapter that would allow you to plug into your iPhone's lightning port and then plug the 30 PIN connector into the speaker dock.
It doesn't matter, it won't play any sound. The controls work, you can play, pause, skip tracks but it plays no sound at all. I put a really old iPod Touch on there with a 30 PIN connector (no adapter) and that worked fine, but it won't play the iPhone 5c with the adapter. It's cute, but I'm not using it for cute, I use it for music through the night in my daughter's room and it's pretty useless if it won't play music.

I know the 30 pin is dead, so this review is probably too late. But we repurposed an old iPod Nano for a child and this little dock is perfect for her. The clock works great, the controls are very simple, and the sleep function works as a sleep function should!

I brought this for my sister because she's an adult who LOVES Minnie Mouse. Because it's a clock I was hoping to be able to see the time. However when the lights are out in the room we can't see the time. The numbers are really faint against the background. So for that reason I won't recommend buying this for that reason.

My 11 year old bought this clock with her own money. She wanted a new alarm clock that she could dock her iPod and listen to it. She also liked that the time display lit up. This unit is cute and the sound is actually really good. However, the unit we received was defective. After setting the time, it would just change on its own. The display light didn't turn on either. My daughter was super disappointed. So we returned the unit.

We got the Minnie Mouse one for our daughter and it has been working perfectly for nearly a year now. I didn't have any issue with it being a 30 pin Apple connection because that is exactly what I was looking for as we use my OLD iPod to play classical music for bedtime. Buttons work, screen works, music works, clock doesn't reset. The only problem we have had is with the alarm going off randomly because the 5 year old was messing with the buttons; not the product's fault though ;)
