Liked that the battery was exactly what I needed and expected. Easy to install. Longevity is still TBD because it serves as a backup to my garage door opener.x

Really easy install. Can't believe that the garage installer wanted almost 10x for their battery and the installation. Don't know about the longevity, however, no reason to doubt that it wont be good based on packaging and appearance of product.
Replacement battery for Garage Door Opener Model 3840
miss mabelline✓ Verified PurchaseJuly 10, 2023
I have a Model 3840 and couldn't find the matching battery - this one works just fine!! I purchased and replaced my original Liftmaster DJW12-4.5 battery in a Liftmaster Model 3840 garage door opener with this battery. It works great! No more beeping! My first battery died after 4 years and I did the typical girl thing - freak out and call a professional garage door person. $250 later, I had a new battery installed. Fortunately, I watched the pro install the new battery. And it lasted 4 months past its 2-year warranty. I resolved to not spend another $250 to fix it this time. So I purchased this replacement per the review by OnTheWater; referred to the manual for the garage door opener (which can be found online if you don't have the actual paper booklet), and replaced it in 15 minutes, most of which time was spent looking for the right sized phillips-head screwdriver and trying to figure out how to get the battery out of the housing. Yeah, the mailing package for this battery stinks...the flimsy cardboard box looked like it burst open somewhere in USPS transit and someone was thoughtful enough to tape it back together. There are a handful of packing peanuts to keep it from getting scratched or cracked. Do not bother to pay extra for the expedited shipping. I did and the package still arrived 4 days after placing the order, which seems to be the norm for regular shipping. Here's the steps to replace your battery:
Unplug your Liftmaster Garage Door Opener from the power source (make sure you have alternate lighting or you will be standing in the dark);
Pull open the Light Bulb cover on the side that the battery is housed;
Use phillips screwdriver to open the battery cover and remove the cover;
Use a piece of packing tape or duct tape wrapped around your fingers, sticky side out, to 'grab' the flat surface of the battery and pull it out of the housing;
Unplug the wires from the dead battery; put old battery aside on the floor;
Remove the plastic terminal protector from the new battery;
Hook up the new battery (the terminals are shaped to only fit one way);
Shove the new battery, wire-side in, into the housing well;
Replace the battery cover and screw back into place;
Replace the light-bulb cover;
Plug the power cord back in to the outlet.
That's it. Hope it helps you save some money and DIY.
