A fiber optic installer 'Must Have'

Unlike the above post, these actually average about 500 "clicks". If you you double tap each termination that equals about 250 cleans. These are a vital part of my tool kit. If you are unfamiliar with these products just keep in mind that any spec of dust is a major problem, especially with single mode fiber. Think of it like this. If you mate a connection and push in with about 2-3 pounds of force you are putting nearly a ton of PSI on the glass. Do the math yourself, 3 pounds at 1 inch is 3 PSI, half an inch would be 6 PSI, a quarter inch is 12 PSI, keep going until you get down to 9 microns of surface area. Any amount of dirt will scratch and pit the end face and that will cause problems.
I'm not partial to the Fluke brand of cleaner, I'm fairly certain they are all made in the same factory and just get different stickers put on them as they go out the door. Just be sure you get the right size depending on what termination you are working with; SC, LC, ST, MPO, etc...

Unlike the Greenlee pen cleaners these last roughly 75 cleans. Greenlee ones last me close to 600
