It's a bag, and not very wide. I bought two to fit all my tent poles in. There is no stretch and it is not a 4-1/2" diameter. I knew that from other reviewers. What was upsetting was that I bought the first one just to see if all the poles would fit. If they did not fit, I was going to buy the second one. Then after trying the size and confirming I needed the second bag, the price jumped like $5! In a weeks time? Seriously?
