Super Wastebasket

Wastebaskets are the kind of product that you don't appreciate a really good one until you have it. This is a good-quality, clean-looking wastebasket with an important feature, the step opener. If your hands have gunk on them from handling food-covered plates, for example, you can open the wastebasket with a foot so you don't have to get gook on the basket lid. If you want to open it by hand, it's just as easy as if there was no step-opener; the step-opener isn't affixed to the lid so it opens as freely as if it were just hinged. There is a convenient channel in which to tuck the bag between the opener and the basket, so the bag doesn't bind on the opener. However, if you want to just stick the bag in without tucking it in the channel, that works, too. Just lift the lid by hand and the bag comes right out (if you use the step without tucking the bag, the opener will make it harder to remove the bag, but if you just flip the lid open fully by hand, the bag comes right out).
This was such a good design that we tossed a second kitchen garbage can (the one we were using for recyclables) and ordered a second one of these to replace it as well.

Great Trash can

This trash can is great. It's heavy enough to put a lot in without the sides bulging out or them tearing. Fits perfectly in a small space at the end of my kitchen counter. Lid pops up every time. And I can't say enough about Amazon. I'm a prime customer and hardly ever shop in a brick and mortar store anymore. As with this product seems like every time I try to go to the large discount store to purchase something they are either out of it or don't have a good selection. I pretty much have given up, go online to Amazon and it's at my door within 2 days.

Great trash can. the foot pedal works like a charm. And it has a good amount of room for daily trash.
A couple things to mention:
- It's pretty lightweight, so I put a heavy rock at the bottom of the can to keep it weighed down. This keeps it from moving when you step on the pedal.
- When you step on the pedal, the plastic piece that pushes the lid up makes a loud noise when it makes contact with the lid. This can be suppressed if you wrap the trash bag, over the silver colored plastic piece that pushes the lid up.
Other than that, you cannot beat the price. It functions well and looks like it will hold up for a while.

Handy Trash Can

It works as expected. It is not super strong plastic but hasn't broken in the 4 months I've had it. The step mechanism works pretty well; the only thing is I wish it opened the lid all the way to a 90 degree angle. It goes to probably 80 which is still enough to fit anything you need to into the trash can. There is no lip to keep the bag on but you can wrap the bag around the lid mechanism and it stays on pretty well.
One interesting thing about the mechanism, when you step down, the lever that pushes the lid up also has a hook so when you step off and the lever falls down, it pulls the lid with it. This guarantees the lid does not get stuck up (although as I said earlier the lid doesn't really open to a complete 90 degrees so that wouldn't be an issue anyways). This is ok but if you step on it and the and then decide you want to leave the lid open, you can't until you step off and let the lid close all the way. You can only open the lid all the way manually (without the lid mechanism hooking) when the lid is closed. Only a minor annoyance though, and the artifact of a decent "stepper". For $13 I would buy again.

it lasts a while but not forever
