I've had this trash can for a few weeks now and when it arrived it was BEAUTIFUL. I'm not sure how, but only a few weeks after minimal use it looks like there are rust spots forming on top of the lid and I'm not even sure how this happened? So far, I haven't been able to figure out how to get rid of the spots, which seems silly for such a new product. Otherwise, this has a great look and is easy to use.

The user should be able to open the pail without the need of the foot pedal. In a tight space access to the foot pedal is not always possible, such as in a small bathroom space. It is difficult to open the lid with your fingers because the lid perimeter has no gipping surface along it to lift, I had this problem in my bathroom and solved it by crazy gluing a strip of black hard rubber measuring 4 Inches by 1/2 inch to the front edge of the pail. That became my gripping surface to lift the lid of the pail. I found lifting the lid easier to do when sitting on the toilet than trying to negotiate the foot pedal. Another annoyance is the clanging sound the lid makes when it closes when the metal of the lid hit the metal of the pail I corrected this by gluing a piece of foam rubber over the front edge of the pail to cushion the contact between lid and pail. Other than these minor grievances, I found the pail to be very useful, easy to clean and attractive in its space.

I like this brand and their trash cans are sturdy and work well. I have the 1.5 gal and the smaller size. The smaller one I've had for over a year and it is still working great. The 1.5 gal is the right size for my bathroom and I have the smaller one in my office.
