You choose a suitable distance between the microscope and the objects, and then adjust the focus manually.
Only after this proces "fine auto-focus" tries to makes final correction.

Buggy Software

Software Supereyes version 3.54. For me on Windows 7 software crashes on load. So, I could not use it on Windows 7 computer at all. Software on Windows 10 computer works, but it is buggy. It hangs and crashes when used for more than a few minutes.The preview mode on screen image size looks to be about 640x480 resolution and cannot be changed. When windows resized, it still looks like its 640x480 max.
Video only shoots 640x480 resolution in wmv format. Product description says max video is 1600x1200. Software doesn't allow setting higher resolution for video for wmv format. Other video format is dzc. Couldn't determine resolution of dzc format since the only thing I could find to play that video format was the Supereyes software itself. Windows Media player would not play it. VLC would not play a dzc either.
Full size still image is 2592x1944. Full size still image in jpg are compressed down to around 1MB. Full size still image in bmp are 14.4MB.

Don't care too much for the autofocus. You will need one hand to hold it and another to turn to focus. The light is not very useful, if you get it too close on a shinny object the light will reflect and show on the picture. Since the base is black it will reflect if you use the light. I put a white piece of paper on the base and it works better, specially on tiny watch parts. The software is not very good it stops working in the middle of a job.
The price is very good for the range of magnification compared to other microscopes. the quality of the pictures is good. Very easy to use. I also like that I can add text.
UPDATE September 2015
The first one stopped working in less than one year and the lens also developed a dark shadow. After trying others, I still like this
microscope so I just bought a new one but the new one does not focus right. I just asked for a replacement hoping that the new one works better. The last 2 photos show a before with the old one and an after with the one I'm returning. The before photo shows a dark shadow just below the 9 marker but everything else is very clear and on focus. The after, with the new microscope, does not have the black stain but the focus is clear only on one corner of the photo.
The price is very good for the range of magnification compared to other microscopes. the quality of the pictures is good. Very easy to use. I also like that I can add text.

Very good quality. Love the case it comes in. Can't stand the software it comes with, keeps freezing up. Looking for other image capture software but keeping the microscope!
