First, the chalk is NOT red, it is a much lighter peachy-pink color. I called other distributors to inquire if the peachy-pink color is actually what Nissen manufactures and describes as "red". Both distributors I spoke with confirmed that Nissen's "red" railroad chalk is actually peachy-pink in color, and is a far cry from what everyone else in the universe visualizes as the color RED. It isn't as dense or vibrant in color/application when writing as compared to other brands, but it worked just as needed.
The greatest positive about this product is that the chalk is not "messy", and leaves only minimal residue on your hands (five stars for this reason).
