Even though I had to return this as it wasn't as strong of a flow I was looking for with my 1000 gal pond. This is a nice pump. I would suggest going higher with gph than you actually need just to be sure there is enough flow. Great company to deal with as they refunded me and excepted the return.
One suggestion is to regularly clean the screen housing of the pump as it gets clog easily. The manufacturer's recommendation is

I use this pump, fountain side in my koi pond and the other side to flow the pond water to my aquaponic garden It works well. One suggestion is to regularly clean the screen housing of the pump as it gets clog easily. The manufacturer's recommendation is once a week, I thinks that is too frequent. I Observe the fountain height and the water flow in my aquaponic garden, if it is getting shorter, or the flow is slowing down, then remove the pump from the pond, it's time to clean.

AS a pump, it is long lasting. I used it in a pond that is 4 feet deep. Ever try to adjust controls situated on a pump at the bottom of the 4 foot deep pond? Also, although the controls seem to have large knobs they "freeze" in place and I have to use really large pliers to turn them.

Recently purchased this (2000 gph) to replace a cheaper pump/filter all in one. The water flow is wonderful and I don't have a problem with it clogging yet. I wish the fountain arm was longer though. I like to sit the pump in the deepest part of my pond (1000 gallon give or take) which is about 2 1/2 feet deep maybe. With the pond full, the fountain cannot be seen, so I will be working on a mod for that. It provides water flow to an outside filter then to a water fall and the flow is perfect. It's quiet and somewhat light, so it does want to move a bit in the pond. I have not added any more fish (after an algae control killed them) but since I added this pump after emptying my pond, both the pump and filter have kept my water clear with no algae, which is more than I can say about the previous setup I had. Installation was quick and easy, didn't need to look at the instructions. I'd definitely recommend this pump before any other inexpensive ones, especially if your just a beginner.
