Dorfman Hat Co. Weathered Outback Hat with Chin Cord (XX-Large, Brown)

Key features
- •OUT IS IN - It's not called the Outback hat for nothing. Built for function, this imported outdoorsmen hat is 52% cotton for breathability in the heat and 48% polyester for increased strength and wrinkle- and tear-resistance.
- •PROPER PROTECTION - This old western hat isn't just for show. With a UPF 50+ rating, this brown outdoor hat provides premium protection against harmful ultraviolet rays.
- •THAT'S NOT A HAT - THIS is a hat. With an interior brow band and lining that absorbs sweat, you don't need to worry about drenching your hat with perspiration on a hot day. The band and lining also provide a smooth surface to avoid skin irritation.
- •YOUR KIND OF SHADE - This broad 2.7" rim is shapeable to provide you with the exact kind of shade you need. Give yourself 360 degrees of shade, or bend the brim how you want for maximum comfort and protection of your face, ears, and nape.
- •GOES WHERE YOU GO - This hat can protect against more than just the sun. Wind, rain, and Mother Nature's other woes can strike at any time too, but an adjustable chin strap ensures your hat stays put no matter what.

21" head and SMALL size fits perfectly!
mimers✓ Verified Purchase•July 25, 2017
I measured my head and it was 21" (more or less). I initially ordered a MEDIUM but returned it and reordered a SMALL and it fits perfectly! I love this hat. Took it on my Alaska adventure and it was perfect. It held up under light rain.. my head was dry and the rim kept its shape. The chin strap is handy because there were moments on the boat ride out to see the glaciers, my chin strap saved me from losing my hat.
Runs way too big

This hat looks as pictured in the photo. It is sturdy. But it is way too large period my husband wears a medium in any hat and he ordered a medium in this and it fits more like an extra large period so size down if you want to buy those hat.
Great simple working hat

Very pleased with this simple hat so far as I was looking to replace my old worn out grove hat.
Working in our avocado grove good sun and head protection is a must have deal and this cotton hat from Dorfman delivers.
Our coming harvest of peaches and pomegranates will prove the true worth and durability of this purchase.
This being my third satisfied purchase of head wear from Dorfman, my only advise is to go a size larger than needed.

Both cool and practical

Both cool and practical, an awesome hat.
I got this for a trip up to the Boundary Waters in Northern Minnesota. It's a great hat all around. It kept the sun off of me, looked awesome, and is flexible. Before I went on the trip I gave it two good coats of water proofing. Side note - DO NOT spray Deet on it. So it kept the rain off when it did rain, kept the sun off the rest of the time, kept the ticks off - to the point where I kept this thing on almost the entire time on my 8 day trip. So it was comfortable and very practical. A couple months later I went on an overnight backpacking trek. More hiking, no canoeing. So I'm wearing this hat, and one of the big advantages is that the rim has an internal wire. So I bent the back of the hat up so it wouldn't keep hitting my backpack. It worked amazingly well. When I was done, I bent it back down. So it's flexible. Add to Cart.
The waterproofing treatment was great, and if you plan to use this in the outdoors, give it two good coats. The Deet thing; I sprayed it on the underside of the brim, Deep Woods Off 25% Deet, and it ate through the water proofing and left white-ish spots. Not a big deal, it makes it look more weathered, but I would not do it again and I'm worried if I had sprayed more, what it would have done to the the fabric. It showed signs of distress, but not too much. The integrity of the hat has held up just fine, just don't spray deet on it thinking that it's going to keep the bugs away (it had no effect) and that it won't ruin your awesome hat.

I like the hat overall and have received a few complements ...

I like the hat overall and have received a few complements on it. It seems a little heavy for summer wear but fine for spring and fall. The fit was a little large but a put two loops of paracord in the band and now it fits about right. There is a wire around to brim to give the hat shape. The wire works well but whenever I bump up against something or sit in a high back chair (like a car seat), I have to reshape the brim.
