Geek Alert!
Vista Bill Raley✓ Verified PurchaseSeptember 4, 2023
Not only is this a well-made functional seven port usb hub but it is ideal for geeks! There are the seven hubs, each with a positive-acting toggle switch plus when each switch is turned on, there is a large blue rectangular led! I attached mine with a couple squares of velcro to the left side of my tower near the back where I have it plugged in. If you are using most or all of the hubs, the leds might be a bit too much. I find that four are perfect. If I add any more to it, I can cover the extras with a small piece of black electrical tape. Wow! I just ordered a second one to place below the first one. I have 14 devices connected to usb ports and I have only eight usb ports on my machine so I do need a couple of these hubs. If you aren't into bright leds showing, you can always 'hide' the seven port hub behind your machine or cover them with electrical tape. A real plus here are the on/off toggle switches. These are usb 2 hubs so if you are fortunate enough to have usb 3 capability, these will function ok, but you will not have the speed advantage of the usb 3 devices.
A Wonderful Deal

I purchased this 7-Port USB Hub because the old PC that my dad has does not have any front ports on it. Now we have seven additional USB ports as well as the 6 in the back. 13 USB ports may seem like a lot, but I have plenty of devices to connect to them.

The product meets all of my needs perfectly. The design is good, all of the ports, switches, and lights function well. For only $4.95 with no tax or shipping to pay, the only thing that made it better was that I had a gift card to pay it with.

I cannot give it 5 stars because the ports are touchy. Once a device is plugged in, it cannot even be moved while plugged into the port without disconnecting the device. This poses a problem for those that use flash drives and memory cards frequently. However, since I mounted it to the side of my desk, it poses no problems to me.
Works great with every device I have attached so far!

Just testing out this unit right now. It's great so far, has recognized every device I have attached. This includes:

*A Logitech Wireless Mouse M325 with Designed-For-Web Scrolling - Light Silver (910-002332) : at first I was dubious this would work for some reason but it did, and it works just like if it was attached to one of the main usb ports.
*A cheap (but great) generic usb keyboard I bought a couple of weeks ago.
*A WD Elements 1 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive WDBAAU0010HBK-NESN : this one uses it's own power supply so I don't know how it would behave if it was one of the newest ones that don't need the external power.

I don't particularly like the leds as a matter of preference but the ones on this unit aren't too shiny as have been described on other usb hubs on Amazon. I guess it's also better to have them than not to since I could just tape over them if they become too annoying.

All of this has been tested under Ubuntu Linux, so it should work on Windows too. That said, if something doesn't work quite right when I log on Windows I will update this review.

Great unit at an unbeatable price. Can't get better than this: 5 stars!

NEXT DAY UPDATE: I forgot to include my smartphone on the device connectivity test I performed yesterday. This hub just got better! I have the hub connected to a usb with powershare enabled and that same usb port couldn't recognize my smartphone (Galaxy S Captivate) as a mass storage device when connected directly to it, even with powershare disabled on the bios. Not anymore! Connecting it to the usb hub it is recognized as a mass storage device just as it should.

I initially didn't care that much for the on/off switch but they are a nice addition that I will use regularly. I have a hdmi to rca converter (that doesn't have it's own on/off switch) that sometimes needs more power than the one provided through hdmi, now I can leave it connected to the hub and just turn on the port when needed. This helps me to accomplish what I wanted to do all along: more than having more usb ports, I wanted to FREE UP all the usb ports of my laptop, so when I'm going to move it around I just have to disconnect one and I'm all set. I'm using 5 ports of the 7 provided and there doesn't seem to be any reduced performance or functionality.

As it stands this hub just has to stand the test of time to keep the 5 star score.
Very Cheep but company stands behind product
Mark Kooshian✓ Verified PurchaseJuly 8, 2023
This product is quite useful and inexpensive It is very cheaply made but I knew what I was purchasing from the reviews.

The product i received was damaged in manufacture so the company replaced it as promptly as international cargo shipping allowed I am rating the company with the stars not the product. The product gets two stars.

it works fine.for my use with the desktop system where it just sits and I click the switches occasionally but I don't think it would last if constantly move or plugged and unplugged.
The one foot cord is hardwired (attached).
It does not ship with a power supply but for limited use I have not needed one.
There is an external power receptacle but I have not tried it figure out the voltage and polarity, in that it is not marked on the unit.
I have attached two powered external Hard drives, two flash drives. HP all in one, and a usb book light. I have used five of them at any given time without errors.

UPDATE: After 6 months the cable is becoming "iffy" sometimes If I move it all the USB have to reattach. Next time I will purchase one with a detachable cable.
Five Star Review if I KNEW there were NO Open Quality Issues
J. B. Potter✓ Verified PurchaseJune 21, 2023
In the face of some ratings with intense complaints regarding likely poor manufacturing process quality, I decided to give this hub a try. I've had no problems in about a month of service. Maybe, the QC issues are now corrected. Maybe, I (so far) got lucky. An earlier reviewer described his path from DoA to a full function product. If you are not afraid to crack the case, your worst case is probably a kit project.

This is REALLY two four-port hubs with one plugged into the other. Thus, in one box, you have 3 open ports in a hub directly connected to your computer and a second four-port hub connected to the fourth port on the first hub. Connecting 1-4 low speed devices (mice, track balls, keyboards, key pads and the like) leaves three ports one hop closer to your computer for faster devices. After a month of service, this glow in the dark hub still works like a charm and keeps one high speed USB port on my computer available for dedicated high speed traffic (typically, a visiting flash ROM drive or portable hard disk).

The BRIGHT blue lights may bother some folks. If you are one of those, cover the lights with red or amber translucent film (e.g., red photo tape or photo gell filters) to mute both the brightness and the "keeps me awake at night" color. Other than turning the blue lights off, I have found no use for the on/off switches, but they do no harm.

Bonus: The external power adapter from my old 4-port hub that died works just fine with this one. Want a 4-port USB 2.0 hub that needs a new cable from the circuit board to the USB plug?
