Excellent product at a great price

My wife borrowed a special TENS unit from a friend. It's sold in Hong Kong for about $475 (yes, $475 USD!). They're both plastic remote-sized devices of equal-looking quality, and they both even use the same plugs, wires, and batteries. The only difference I can see is that the Hong Kong unit has two straps for stimulating precise points on your hand with electric "taps" (beat zaps). It doesn't work on any other part of your body. The idea is that hitting one of 11 specific spots on your hand has health benefits.

I took one look at it and thought this thing sure doesn't look like a $475 device to me. So I checked Amazon and found this product, which looks almost the same except for the hand straps.

Well, there is one significant difference besides the hand straps. The hand straps have two conductors on it, but only one actually zaps you.

After several uses, I experienced no benefits from the Hong Kong unit that would make it worth purchasing.

So I bought and tried this, and I love it. It's obviously way more versatile, since it's not a hand-only TENS. I use it to massage my neck, and an area on my arm that gives me trouble and more. It does an excellent job. I've put the stickies on the spots on my hand that the Hong Kong unit addresses, and although it's not as precise, it feels almost exactly the same to me. I even bought some velcro straps to simulate how the Hong Kong unit works. That wasn't necessary, as the sticky pads work fine as is.

This is well worth the money. Highly recommended.
The best money I have spent in a long time!

The best money I have spent in a long time!....... I had been doing a lot of gardening lately, and my niece saw my pain in the back. She quickly ran into her house and put her Tens unit on my back. Oh my what a life saver! It quickly relieved my pain. So, I purchased one the next day for myself. I have continued the gardening and each evening I run the unit several times on different areas of my back. The pain is gone immediately and the stimulation feels so wonderful and relaxing. Thanks for such a wonder item!.... Unit arrived in a smartly designed package, tucked neatly in a shipping box.
A great unit!

This little unit is powerful, portable and easy to set up and use. I purchased one after using TENS therapy in rehab for my knee about two years ago and have replaced the pads twice. If you take good care of the pads to maintain connectivity they will last for a very long time. The unit itself is the size of a TV remote, so you can set it and place it in your pocket and stretch, strengthen or just relax the muscle groups as it works. After purchasing for myself, I bought one for a friend who only had partial use of her right arm after an accident. This unit helped her to stimulate the muscle groups of her good arm to help maintain function. Then this last Christmas while traveling with my sister she had a horrible neck ache. You know the kind one gets when under too much stress, bent over a computer all day? I went to the store to get her heat pads and I saw an over the counter TENS made by the companies that make instant hot packs and I bought it. It was $30.00, could only be positioned one way, and paled in comparison with regard to any of the other aforementioned qualities of this unit. So when we came back I popped on line and bought her one too!
Anyway, enough out of me now go get yours....
A good bang for your buck!

I took this unit to Physical Therapy at the request of my PT. He said that he had never seen this particular model but was impressed with the different options (settings) it offers. He recommended anyone who has never used a Tens Unit have someone who has show them how. You would probably agree that most User Manuals just aren't very user friendly. Fortunately, I was shown just how to use it by someone who has 10+ years of experience in PT. If you are suffering from back, shoulder, knee or any other pain, you may want to have your doctor refer you to physical therapy. This unit is very useful when and if your pain should come back or if you're traveling or otherwise unable to go back to PT. I would have given this unit 5 stars if the gel pads had been of a higher quality. They're fine, just not medical grade. When you order more pads (they're only good for 5 to 10 applications) try to get the better ones not those sold by Santamedical. Also, the remote could be smaller and have a belt clip so that you could use it hands-free and not have to put it in your pocket or whatever. This unit is very affordable - a good bang for your buck!
First time use, never without one again

I bought this here and was not offered it free or discounted for my review. This is my first time using a TENS unit. I have recurring cervical radiculopathy. Essentially, a muscle spasm in my shoulder/neck area pinches a nerve firing significant and prolonged pain from next to my left shoulder blade through my left tricep and down my arm.
I attach the first of two pads just over my trapezoid and the second pad further down my back between the blade and my spine. I use the pre-programmed "Shoulder" program and it has definitely relieved the deep sickening pain that I couldn't shake. It's not a long term solution, it relieves pain while it's on. The lifetime of one of these pinched nerve episodes is about 10 weeks with the first two weeks being the worst and then a slow gradual improvement to a tolerable level for the remaining weeks. I use a combination of OTC ibuprofen and acetaminophen when the pain gets intolerable. I also alternate a heating pad with ice packs. I do stretching exercises that I learned from my one visit to a massage therapist.
The unit is durable. I've dropped it from hip height at least a couple dozen times. The first set of generic batteries lasted two weeks and that was with continuous all day usage. I'm able to re-use my pads for two weeks. I bought the "Tensive" conductive adhesive gel to re-surface the pads for continued re-use. For my situation and pad placement, I use the full power setting. The "Knead" setting is incredible and I treat myself to that a few times a day. The 15 minute timer is a bit annoying but liveable. I'll never be without one of these things again.
