A MUST HAVE FOR TRIPS IN SMALL CARS
Patricia FoxSeptember 2, 2017
Needed this to get my son to college since we have a Rav4 with a 3/4 fold down seat and it did the job! It is a soft cover so we only put "soft stuff" on roof - bags of towels, sheets, flexible laundry basket, pillows, etc. We filled it corner to corner as recommended and strapping it after filling it was not only easy it was very safe and strong. It was also easy to take off the roof after we emptied it and stores right back in the bag they provide. We literally could not have driven there with one car if we didn't have this. Highly recommend.

Bought this for my Nissan Murrano that has no roof rack. Kind of a pain to load but not too bad and I guess to be expected when trying to put stuff on top of your car. I like that I could put light but bulky stuff outside the car. I put 4 sleeping bags, 4 thick sleeping pads, pillows, jackets camp chairs and other stuff in. Great. Halfway through my drive from LA to Sequioa the front strap broke! The bag flipped back, luckily the rear strap held the bag until I could pull over on the side of the road. Then I had to push my wife onto the top of the car to try to flip the heavy bag back, all while huge semis are shooting past us. Not fun. Luckily I had some rope and my old Boy Scout Handbook so I could tie it back down with a proper knot. Would have been a bigger disaster otherwise. Now I use ratcheting straps to hold it to my car. I have much more peace of mind with some proper straps instead of the backpack straps provided. 2 stars instead of 1 because the bag is thick and durable but, they should provide better straps. Carry rope and learn some knots just in case!
Love The Look, Roominess!! Holds Alot

Purchased this for our now very soon upcoming relocation to our new home. Will be traveling over 1,200 miles. NY to Fla, here we come. In our SUV, mid-aged, newly married couple, adult daughter also relocating, parakeet, our Maltese, and Cat. All in one loving SUV. Should be crazy, fun and what the hell was I thinking?! After reading LOTS of reviews, decided to purchase. (Purchased over a month ago). Now we are going to put it to the test. After it arrived, we could visually SEE just how much stuff you can pack in here. Alot. Read the reviews. They are helpful on packing, etc. I always do. Thank you friends! Now, let me tell you WE will be packing at least three completely FILLED carry on luggages. TWO completely filled VICTORIA'S SECRET LARGE TOTES (the women know these!) At least three sets of Queen sheets (already washed and folded). Our personal pillows. Mine is "My Pillow." TWO QUEEN blow up mattresses (in their cases), Our Lg Keurig Coffee Pot. 2 Lg Coffee Mugs. A few 12 L" x 5"H containers of STUFF like spoons, forks and God knows what other stuff we're gonna throw in. Within the carryons, will be our clothing, shoes, toiletries etc. I'll try to remember photos as we travel during our updates.
Great product that actually works exactly as advertised

Bought this for use on a rental Town & Country minivan on vacation in Florida. Worked perfectly. In full disclosure, I did not have any heavy rains to test that aspect, but it was easy to install and secure. Fit perfectly between the front and rear roof rack cross bars. You do need to fill it up volume-wise to minimize flapping in the wind, but once done it was quiet and did not pull on the van at all. I did stop after about 30 minutes to retighten the straps, but it was secure. I also used a no-slip roof pad to protect the top of the van, and you have to be thoughtful about how much weight you put into this because the roof can only hold so much (this bag was sitting right on the roof surface with just a sliding pad between the bag and the roof's paint.) We got a few large suitcases in and then filled the space with dirty laundry bags, duffle bags, beach towels, etc. Again, the more full the volume (not weight), the better this will perform in wind. Also, I only used two of the included straps to secure it (one in the front and one in the back), and those connected to the roof rack sides. In hindsight, a 3rd, probably less convenient to attach and tighten, strap could have run from the center front crossbar to the center rear crossbar (over the top and along the length of the van). I would do that if I had a long trip just as a precaution to hold everything down to the roof, but that would just be me wanting to have a belt and suspenders. Again, I fortunately did not get to test the watertight aspects of this bag because we had sunny weather, but the seams are and zippers are all coated and the Velcro covers seem as if they would do a good job to keep out moisture if installed correctly. Lastly, this size seems like a good one, although they sell larger. A larger bag seems like it could allow too much weight on a roof, but that is just something each person needs to determine for your own trips. No rooftop carriers are designed for more than a few hundred pounds, and many are less than that, but it is usually the roof limitations (you don't want to leave a huge dent) that drive that decision. Overall, I am very pleased with this product.
Perfect carrier for our purposes
mtnfscSeptember 6, 2016
Perfect carrier for our purposes. Holds much more than expected and as it is soft sided, was easier to pack than a hard sided carrier. We liked that when not in use, it folds up to a very manageable size for storing. It was exposed to some rain and we did not discover any leaking inside the carrier. We did use extra straps, but this was because we weren't comfortable about the number of straps it comes with being secure enough, not because we had any problems. Excellent product, good value!
