It's important to make sure you have a very good air antenna and pointing in the right direction

I reside in east TN, next to the Cherokee National Forest, half way between Knoxville and Chattanooga. So I'm approximately 50-55 miles from television transmission. The most important thing to remember is that you must have a very good long range over the air hdtv antenna. I have tried at least three different brands of air antennas over the last year and the CM 2020 (through Amazon, $149.00) is the winner. Yes, it's similar to the huge antennas we used back in the 60's, but when pointed in the right direction it does great picking up at least 52 channels from my location on the side of Starr Mountain. It did take a number of times of pointing it where I would receive the most channels. It is located at the peak of my roof. So after picking up these channels I enhanced the signal to 3 different rooms using this 4 port tv amplifier and it does the job. Before I retired 7 years ago, I installed Directv, DishNetwork, HughesNet, and Wildblue satellite systems for tv and internet for 13 years. So I'm a bit familiar with bringing in a good signal. A couple of things that you need to take into consideration, if you have very tall trees surrounding your home, this could interfere with getting a good signal if the tv transmission tower you need is located behind any of those trees.. Plus, here is a little secret that may be a problem with reception. If your electrical outlet that is supplying power to your tv is also on the same circuit as a light that is operating an LED light bulb, believe it or not, that LED light bulb can interfere with your signal. I have a number of LED light bulbs in our master bathroom. Anytime I turn them on, my tv picture in the den in which the outlet is on the other side of the same interior wall that the bathroom lights are located, my tv picture scrambles. I've tested this to be sure. So something to take in consideration after you have homed in on a good signal from your antenna. Yes it cost me about $200 to get this FREE tv reception. But in the long run, think about how much you pay over a 12 month period for cable or satellite tv. This $200 is just a drop in the bucket compared to that Cha Ching $$. Good Luck to everyone out there.
Solid Amplifier for Multiple TV's

We are getting ready to cut the cord from Cable and do more streaming having tested a few places. I first needed to ensure we had a means to get our true "local" channels. Many years back we had set up a satellite system and had a single attic mounted local channels antenna rigged up for four TV's which was barely adequate (mostly VHF back then). Now we need something to pull in digital (UHF) for six TV's. Because of transmitter locations for us, I had to set up two antennas in the attic facing nearly opposite directions to ensure full coverage. Running the co-phased two antennas into one download feed (RG6) and using much of the old pre-existing/wall-installed RG59 coax, I could pull in what we wanted on one TV but, as soon as I started splitting the line for the rest of the TVs, then reception suffered with each split.
I considered going with a pre-amp installation at the antenna(s) source versus going with an amplified splitter. For our installation, the Antennas Direct 8-Port TV Distribution Amplifier made more sense to try first, as our old distribution/splitter run is located in the basement (ranch style house). I figured I could always crawl up in the attic and install pre-amp(s) later if the amplifier didn't work as we hoped.
This weekend, I hooked up all six lines/tvs and used 75ohm terminators on the unused ports, installed the power supply line and we have awesome reception on all six TVs. Prior to the amplifier and testing with just the one tv on a short line, I could get 40 channels. With this amplified splitter, we now get 43 channels & clear reception on all six TVs. This truly is better than we expected.
In other reviews, some people have had not so good luck and yet other reviewers made the product sound too good to be true. As I mentioned above, this amplifier/splitter is working great for us, however your results may vary as every installation can differ to extremes. Lastly, I am here to tell you this is a no BS honest review and I wasn't paid or given or promised any free stuff to write this. Good luck.

I'm pleased so far. I have 2 antennas going into this up on a mast about 13 feet off the ground. (Antennas are the exact same brand and I'm using the exact same length of coax cable) I'm 30 miles from one market and 50 miles from the other. I pointed both antennas at the market that's 50 miles away. ( I didn't have good results pointing the antennas at each different market) I was getting 30 to 40 channels at first, with this setup I'm getting 102 channels from both markets don't get me wrong some are not great, but at least 85% of the 102 are at least 75 out a 100 on a signal scale. The picture on HD channels is spectacular. I have an old Channel Master (15 years) 1 output distribution amp that runs 3 tvs a Hd homerun Dvr and dish network is still hooked up ( not for long though lol) though a 3 way splitter where it comes into the house, and another 3 way splitter at the tv farthest away where the Dvr and dish hopper are. As far as the power inserter went I made a loop from the antenna into the nearest bedroom so I could plug the power inserter into an inside outlet and back out to go to the splitter. Ground all outside splitters, the mast and the Juice amp, (this is important) Everything is working great at this time, I can run everything at the same time and so far no issues. I'm very pleased. I can't guarantee you will get the same results, I am by no way an expert at this by any means. Again it worked for me, this is at a rural setting. Good Luck
Failed in Less than a Year But Great Customer Service

I've got two of these, one purchased from Amazon.com and the other directly from AntennasDirect.com. Both are installed in the attic to boost the signal from a Clearstream2 and a Clearstream4 antenna. Before buying, I confirmed with an AntennasDirect tech that attic heat wouldn't be a problem. Each one failed after less than a year of use.
Performance was very good until they failed. I live in a rural location and can only receive a couple of channels without a signal booster. With the JUICE installed, I received 7 local TV stations with all of their digital sub-channels. In fact, I received so many that I deleted some so I don't have to wade through so many when changing channels.
Although both failures occurred outside the warranty period, I contacted AntennasDirect.com to see if they would stand behind the product. I'm happy to say that they did. For the unit I purchased directly from them, they offered a full refund. For the one purchased on Amazon.com, they offered a replacement. I accepted both offers. (I accepted the refund on one unit because I've already replaced it with a PCT unit -- see below.)
The Antennas Direct customer service rep answered all of my questions about the failure of these two units. He said that most failures they've experienced with signal amps are due to static charge, although he commented that it is less likely in an attic installation. He also said that they haven't seen a high rate of failure for the JUICE units for any reason.
Due to the excellent customer service from Antennas Direct, I can't knock the JUICE units. Their Clearstream antennas have worked well for me too.
I replaced both Juice amplifiers with the PCT PCT-MA2-2P, which services 2 TVs. So far, so good. The PCT support staff assured me that attic heat won't affect their unit. I'll post a review for it on their Amazon product page. The total cost of the PCT unit plus the required accessories (power inserter, 75 ohm terminal resistor) was about $30. 2-Port Bi-Directional Cable TV HDTV Amplifier Splitter Signal Booster with Passive Return Path
I'm worried now that if static discharge destroyed the JUICE units, my PCT amp may not last long either. I'll update this review if this turns out to be the case.
