I've made several of these. Very high quality. Cutting the ferrule is a bit tricky. I usually turn the ferrule end first using the tail stock for support and then drilling for a 3/8" by 16 brass threaded insert. The insert makes it easier to unthread the scoop for washing and makes it easier to mount the handle stock on a spindle drive to turn the handle to final shape.
