The only thing it's good for is charging up a laptop or phone

I bought this thing several years ago, needed it three or four times to jump-start my Honda Pilot (and SUV), and it failed me every damn time. The only thing it's good for is charging up a laptop or phone.

This thing packs a wallop. It's a superior product that can jump start your car and many others 40 times over.
I also like the fact it has a power inverter that could prove to be useful in case of power outages
I highly recommend purchasing this item.

This is the second Alstart 555 Camo Pro Pac that I've purchased on Amazon. This one replaced my original, which I tragically forgot on the side of the road after using it to test a bass guitar I was buying off Craigslist (plugged the amp into the Pro Pac). I was sick when I lost the first one because it had been so useful to me in the past. I used it for everything from powering my CPAP machine while camping (although I wouldn't recommend using it for this for any long stays - use a real generator) to blowing up air mattresses to being a good Samaritan and jump starting other people's cars. This unit has been fantastic, and I hope the second one will be equally great.
If I had to complain about one thing, it's that after a couple of years the fuse burned out in the unit. Once I replaced the fuse (very cheap fix - you can get a suitable replacement from any auto parts store) the unit was as good as new. Just be careful not to leave it in the grass. The camo might blend in TOO well and you may end up forgetting it!

A great source for vehicles (etc) that are rated for its amperage. Reliable and recommended!

This is a reliable batter jump starter that I have used both on my car, on other (stranded) people's cars, and as a reserve power source for my various gizmos and gadgets. Overall, it has the power it says it does (a quick review of come of the other folks making recommendations makes me wonder if they are trying to use it to turn over engines that are too large for this 300 cold cranking amp rated power source! Folks, you can't jump start a 747 with this!).
IF you do the research and find that this amperage is enough for your needs, I highly recommend this power source.
The only flaw is that, instead of having its own cord, it relies on the ability to directly connect a female extension cord end into the prongs in the recess in the back. Odd and a bit frustrating (in that now I have provided a dedicated extension cord for this, as the other plugs can't be realistically used - in essence I just paid for a cord...) Once you get past this, it is very reliable, with an easy-to-read gauge that will ensure you don't get caught off-guard by a surprisingly empty unit.

I shopped around for something like this for a while. Bought a few from SEARS, and AutoZone and they were HORRIBLE. None of them would hold a charge, and could barely jump start my GMC truck even one time.
Finally found this one and it is absolutely AMAZING! It holds it's charge a long time and you can easily start a large truck (I have a GMC Yukon) several times off a single charge. I've owned this for about a year now. The added inverter is handy when you want to power 120v devices.
I've even brought this into the house to charge my cell phone and a few other electronic devices when the house power went out during a storm.
Highly recommended, works as advertised.
