I like the different sounds and the design
mrsjones2010•July 25, 2017
I do like it, but it is cheaply made. You have to put the pieces together yourself, and if you aren't careful, they will break. The sounds are very neat, once you figure out that you have to click the button quickly to get different sounds. (1x for one, 2x for two, 3x for three, etc.) It's a very neat piece to have.
A must buy for any Doctor Who fan!

My son has all of the sonic screwdrivers and this one completed his collection. It's a really nice screwdriver with different options, but the best part are all of the different sounds. Highly recommend for any Doctor Who fan!
Not suitable as a toy
Linda A. Naquin•November 12, 2015
Not too great if you want it as a toy for your 3-year-old who loves Dr Who. He had it for two days before losing the top piece. We have searched high and low and cannot find it. The top and bottom pieces fall off way too easily. They should have a better latch. My son will be playing with it, not even touching the end piece, and that end piece will fall off. As a parent, we all hate having to fix the same piece of a toy over and over again all day long. Had I known all of this ahead of time, I probably would have superglued the end pieces on before letting him have it. Other than that, it works great.
Trans-temporal Sonic Screwdriver - don't leave your Tardis without it.

A really cool little gadget that's fully compatible with the Customize Your Own Sonic Screwdriver set. However, the documentation does not explain how to activate the new sounds. A call to Underground Toys gave me the information I needed, which I will pass on here.
To activate the 3rd sound, press the button twice in rapid succession, holding it down on the 3rd press.
To activate the 4th sound, press the button twice in rapid succession, holding it down on the 4th press.
To activate the 5th sound, press the button twice in rapid succession, holding it down on the 5th press.
To activate the 6th sound, press the button twice in rapid succession, holding it down on the 6th press.
To activate the 7th sound, press the button twice in rapid succession, holding it down on the 7th press.
To activate the 8th sound, press the button twice in rapid succession, holding it down on the 8th press.
It takes a little bit of practice, but it's worth it as the new sounds (and light flashing) are pretty cool

rendering it useless. Unassembled
M. Denise Mertz•March 25, 2015
I must have received a defect because when I slid the top over the protruding tube of white handle, screwed it partly in to lock in place, it wouldn't align. Once locked in place, the top's little arrow has to be aligned with the handle's alignment indicator slit, then you can push the top's button down onto the handle's black button on the now-hidden tube to activate fx. On mine, the top's arrow is slightly to the right of aligning, rendering it useless. Unassembled, I was able to make it sound by pushing the black button on the exposed tube of handle, so sounds do work. The handle doesn't screw into the right position. Has anyone else had this problem? Both assembly indicators on top and handle are very subtle, not detracting from the over-all look. That's a plus. I want to get another one but afraid of the same issue. Maybe this particular item should have been one piece? I'm so sad because I love the steampunk look to it. I want to give it six stars just for the look. But the defect grudgingly compelled me to give it only two.
