SO heavy, works great. Was a gift, but is exactly what they wanted. Researched several safes and this one, I found to be the best price for being fire and water proof. Larger than a briefcase but exactly what was needed.

Take a look at the weight of this before you buy it. It is much heavier than you'd expect. With that weight, it seems to be robustly built. Although, the latch and key system seem a bit flimsy. Full sheets of paper don't truly fit as suggested in the description. An 8.5 inch wide sheet will have to be bent slightly, but that's not a big deal for my purposes.

Sometimes a safety deposit box at the bank can be inconvenient, especially when you need something like your passport or an insurance policy on a weekend. We bought this to keep some of those papers easily accessible at home and protected from fire. The fire and water ratings are excellent (better than most similar products), and it certainly seems capable of withstanding quite an onslaught. It is solid, mainly metal, heavy, and convenient to use (the lid has hydraulic hinges). Find a place for it to live and measure that place before you order it - it definitely isn't built for easy portability, and it needs to be kept flat, so you need about a 20" square location. We like it very much and feel that the important papers within it are secure from fire.
