NO BPA , no guar gum, and BEST COCONUT CREAM I’ve tried.
ScarlettJanuary 23, 2018
Apparently, lots of cans are lined with toxic materials, and some of them DISSOLVE IN FAT. BPA, for instance. (!!!) Hence, if you use coconut cream from those cans, you're probably getting a good dose of chemicals that your body doesn't need or are downright toxic. Breast cancer, anyone? Have a can of BPA-infused coconut milk!

Certain manufacturers use other interesting chemicals as can liners, such as titanium dioxide, in lieu of BPA. Do you. Want to. Eat. That?
Based on what I've researched, I don't.

I eat a lot of coconut cream since I'm on the "Plant Paradox" diet (the book by Dr. Gundry is available on Amazon) for autoimmune issues. All my autoimmune issues are gone as of present and I intend to stick to the diet for the rest of my life. That said, I don't want to eat BPA whenever I add coconut cream to my coffee, make myself a yummy coconut cream/inulin/cocoa powder mix dessert (try to mix those ingredients, you'll thank me), or when I cook with it.

I started parusing the Internet for coconut cream with no BPA lining in the packaging and NO GUAR GUM. (Guar is a bean, most beans are excluded on my diet due to lectins and what they do to your immune system.)

Tetra packs have no BPA. I bet they're not a perfect choice either but since PBA is fat-soluble, I don't want BPA in the packaging.

This coconut cream is packed in a carton, which I found weird since I've never bought one like that before. I was also suspicious of quality due to foreign language on the packaging.

Well, silly me. THIS IS THE BEST COCONUT MILK I'VE TRIED. IT'S FULL OF AROMA. It's creamy without your typical "guar gum slime." It dissolves well in hot liquid.

I keep it in the fridge and only use the cream from the top, I don't mix it with the coconut water liquid since that has carbs in it. On occasion I pour it in a bottle and add a probiotic in it, and set it outside. The coconut water will turn into probiotic drink within three days. You could also add a few drops of sour kraut juice, it's full of probiotic bacteria.

I hope this review helped you decide. This is really an excellent, excellent product. Really worth buying.

My old review is below. I bought this a third time and all the cartons were bad, it had a sour smell and everything was super clumpy. It's winter so i assumes it was separation. But i tried to blend it in the blender to get it creamy and it stayed curdled like. Yuck!

Old review:Love this!! It doesn't separate like canned ones do. It's suoer creamy and I use it for dairy free desserts and in my protein shake fruit smoothies for yummy creaminess and to help keep my weight up for exercising. It's a big container and only lasts 2 days refrigerated so I shake it well, open it and pour it in ice cube trays and freeze and put in ziplock bags to use when I need

This is the only product I've purchased this many times I'm giving a one star review. Despite consuming this exact product 5-6 days a week for over a year, I've completely lost faith in its quality.

At least two of the cartons in our last shipment contained maggots. We ate some of one of the containers before making the realization so you can only imagine how much our stomachs twisted over that. We use this as part of our morning smoothie and assumed the kiwi had gone bad so fortunately we "only" took a few sips. *shudder* My girlfriend's stomach has been very off but of course we cannot prove cause and effect on that aspect.

I'm not sure what else to say other than we were completely disgusted to find this out. For your information, these containers were set to expire 10/21/2016 and were stored in a very climate controlled kitchen with AC running. The other marking next to "21/10/2016" was "20:26A" but I assume that just relates to the time of day. If you have any containers with an expiration date anywhere near that I would at the very least dump the contents into a new container for inspection before consuming.

PS that wasn't a typo. Maggots.

Good luck to all of you.

NOT LIKE ANY I'VE EVER BOUGHT
DOCJuly 18, 2016
I purchased this expecting a thick, sweet, "tastes like coconut" cream. Well, it's not; it's like coco milk. My grocery only has two brands and they cost $3 each, but they taste like coconut! I used this like milk, shaking well before using. I finally got to the bottom and a large hard chunk fell out. I couldn't do anything with it (it did have a coconut flavor). I put it in a blender then added to what I was making. I make keifer every day and I like to use coconut cream to flavor the second fermentation. Its fine in the keifer until the second fermentation is complete and you put it in the fridge, then it separates and hardens. So when I drink the keifer, it has all these chunks in it but unless you bite into one of the chunks, you don't taste coconut.

Don't get me wrong It's probably fine for coffee or smoothie or cooking but I don't use it for that. Also this came with 3 boxes, which cost me $7 each. I'll continue with my $3 can from the grocery, thank you!
"Coconut Cream 100%" DOES NOT = 100% coconut

I believe there is a reason for the arrangement of the wording on the label. This product might be NAMED "Coconut Cream 100%" but I do not believe at all that this is 100% coconut. My reasoning is laid out below.

First, the consistency right out of the container is off. Coconut products separate on the shelf. This product came out of the container all one consistency. That might LOOK nice, but for anyone who has been using coconut milks and creams for any length of time, it immediately raises a red flag that this is processed with something to maintain that consistency.

Second, the ingredients wording is not where it should be for official packaging. Look at any product you purchase under United States FDA guidelines and you will see the ingredients listed either underneath or to the side of the Nutrition Facts. This package has the phrase "Ingredients: coconut cream 100%" on the opposite side of the box with the company contact info. This points to it not being a true ingredients listing. In fact, "coconut cream" isn't an actual ingredient. It is a product of processing an ingredient. And ingredients lists do not contain percentages of each item. If this product was actually made using only coconut, the ingredients list should state "Ingredients: coconut." With their wording, it is essentially stating what you will find in the container is what the company defines as "coconut cream," however they may choose to make it and with whatever ingredients they may choose to add. A box of corn flakes could be labeled "corn flakes 100%" and that still would not tell you what ingredients went into making the corn flakes. This is a huge red flag.

Third, there is a stick-on label added to the container which states that the shelf life of the product is only 2 days in the refrigerator after opening! Even fresh coconut meat lasts for 1 week in the refrigerator. Again, anyone who has used coconut products would see a red flag here.

Fourth, the nutrition facts don't line up. The box states that 1/2 cup of this product contains 190 calories, 170 from fat. A can of Sprouts brand coconut cream shows on the label that 1/4 cup of their coconut cream (which also contains water) has 130 calories, 110 from fat. If you do the math conversion that means that a product with coconut + water would have 36% more calories than a product containing pure coconut. Another red flag.

Finally, the taste and texture are off. It left a chemical aftertaste and gummy coating in my mouth that made me afraid of what I was putting into my body. After only 3 sips this went down the sink.

A total waste of money. BUYER BEWARE!
