The device does not turn on. The instructions are simple enough, but following them did nothing. In addition, the device does not charge - after trying with several power sources, and several different cables. Basically, the BlueAnt ribbon I received does not work.
I recognize that any manufacturing process will have a few failures. Most of the BlueAnt ribbons may work perfectly well. Mine didn't. I'm returning it. If you're considering buying this "designed in Australia, made in China" device, you might want to ask yourself if you're feeling lucky.

Poor Bluetooth connection, suffers dropouts

Packaging definitely NOT frustration-free. Bluetooth audio performance is poor. Occasional crackling (can't keep up?). Once it simply slowed down the music tempo and pitch in what was presumably its way to deal with the poor connection (phone was two feet away from unit). Perhaps this unit was simply defective and your experience will differ. Only supports Bluetooth 3. Surprisingly does come with a USB charger and earbuds which I did not try. Nice design but not being able to listen to music without tiny pauses was the deal killer. I returned it and opted for the Griffin iTrip Clip (also available on Amazon) which is not as clever design-wise but never has an audio dropout.

Before I begin, please note that I got a faulty unit that I returned and did not get replacement.
Problem: The device I received could not hold a charge. No matter what I tried, I could get no more than a minute of battery life. The unit worked while plugged, so I assume just a battery issue.
Reason I did not get replacement: frequency range. I wasn't asking too much of the device, just accept audio from my PC and pump it into a DAC/AMP. I wanted the connected DAC/AMP to handle driving my larger headphones, which it does very well when directly connected to the PC, I was just using this Bluetooth receiver to reduce a wire. Sadly, my music all of a sudden lost a ton of tone of the top and bottom of the audio range.
Basically, my known-good audio played back with no bass and a flat high end. I use other Bluetooth headphones connected to the PC, they get the frequencies in question, so I have to conclude it is this Bluetooth receiver unable to perform to my standards.
As a basic machine, good price and solid connectivity.

I tried the Jumbl with my iPhone 7 and even at the lowest volume my ears were hurting.
I tried the "Avantree aptX LOW LATENCY Bluetooth with Clip" and had the same problem as the Jumbl. Even at the lowest volume my ears hurt.
With the BlutAnt Ribbon volume level on the phone is independent from the volume level on the BlueAnn. This means I can get the volume very low, or very loud.
The only bummer is BlueAnt added the rare aptX codec for Bluetooth, but not AAC. iPhones don't support AptX, and since the BlueAnt doesn't support AAC the used codec is SBC. Some people might care, but as an engineer if I want real quality I'm always going to wire up anyway.
I've connected the BlueAnt to my computer and it does use AptX is that case.

This bluetooth streamer is amazing. I've had it for a few years now and use it 2x daily for gym use. I abuse the heck out of it, take no caution with headphone/charger plug unplug and have clipped it to everything from a thin t-shirt to a leather motorcycle vest with no issues ever. I even ran this thing through the washing machine right after buying it (on accident) but a quick charge up and it was back up and running. I use a shortz set of earbuds so I have very little cable to deal with. The controls work great and allow me to skip songs on pandora or the device media player, I can control volume and start/stop songs. This is hands down the best solution to wireless music when doing activities that I've ever seen. I'm not limited to the headphones that come with it but still retain all the functionality and features. I don't write reviews, check my profile. This thing has impressed me so much I took the time to type this up while debating the purchase of a second because it was on sale. (I chose not to because it has been so reliable I don't feel the need for an on-hand spare!)
