Doesn't fit the few different sets we have well enough to keep running.
Matt C.•January 18, 2018
We have a few different wooden train sets and this doesn't seem to do well with most of them. Due to the aluminum shielding on the inside of each wheel, it's constantly getting stuck on the tracks and around corners. My little one doesn't seem to notice much as he just pushes it along when it happens but I might have to sand down the tracks to get a better fit. However, he'll occasionally use it off the tracks to pull trains on the floor and he'll connect about 14 cars behind it so I can't say it's not powerful.
can go UP plastic garage tracks, son loves it

This is a cool toy. It will roll on the floor, on wooden tracks and even will go UP a plastic tracks. My son thinks it so neat that it climbs up his car garage tracks, as opposed to all other cars that only roll downhill. Battery lasts as long as you are good with turning it off after they are done, otherwise sometimes it goes under our sofa with the button depressed until it dies.
Won't fit all tracks!!!

Very nice quality, heavy enameled metal body and easy push button on/off switch. Good traction, will run on thin carpet as well as tracks and floors, and will tow cars nicely, at least a couple. Goes rather slow but that makes it simple for little kids to push the switch while moving. ****BUT*** it doesn't fit IKEA tracks. Major MAJOR bummer bc all of our fancy bridges and turnstiles are IKEA. I prefer those tracks bc they have tighter joints. But they are ever-so-very-slightly wider than the Melissa & Doug track pieces i have. The tracks all fit together so i assumed if it would fit one it would fit the other but the middle section is just a bit wide on the IKEA tracks and that teensy bit is enough to catch up the wheel wells of the trains and prevent the wheels from riding the groove. So the wheels spin in the air. Picture included for clarity. Overall good toy, but a greater allowance in design would make these ride so much better and i wish i wish i wish i had know they wouldn't fit!!!!
Junk No Power

He is so slow will not even pull one car! Have a Pennsylvania and a President Washington I am unsure who they're made by but I've had these engines that I bought used for over 8 years and they do better. Wish could find more of them metal engine that look like real trains & go.
this seems to be the best! it is the most powerful

of all trains (Brio and Hape, even compared to the blue Thomas), this particular train is the best! it is the most powerful, most durable so far, has an easy (for toddler) on/off button. Can easily pull 6 additional carts up the bridge. Easily wins when goes head to head with any other train (thus making even this arrangement entertaining for my 2 yo).
