This simple gas line changed everything! When we bought the house, gas fire log was in place, and after testing it for leak, we used it a couple of time: Whistle noise was just unbearable, even with gas flow at the lower position. We bought a new gas line at a local hardware store, specifically designed for gas log. That was a waste of time an money: same horrible whistling noise, we had to return it.
We decided to give a last chance before converting back the fireplace to wood burning, and order the Dreffco 1/2" x 24" Non-Whistle Flexible Flex Gas Line for NG or LP from Dreffco. We are so glad we did: It works perfectly fine: no more noise AT ALL !!
A quick way to see is your line is whistling: just blow air in with your mouth, no whistling = your are good to go.
I wish my husband did not throw away the old line, I could have done a video so you could hear the difference ;-)

I spent hours trying to get this to work, I really wanted to eliminate the whistle from our fire pit. I tried eliminating all kinks (even had the pit ring standing vertically 2 feet out of the pit in order to have this pipe perfectly straight), intentionally kinking it, low flow, high flow, nothing would change the condition, no difference in the sound using it vs. not using it. I took two videos of our pit, one with the flex pipe installed, one without. have a look at both and see if you can tell which has it installed and which doesn't.
