Pretty color but too grainy for lip balms

I purchased this item to use for natural coloring in homemade lip balms, but it doesn't really dissolve well so my balms haven been grainy. Pretty color though.

Very strong beet smell (of course... because it's beer root) and is a beautiful color but incredibly grainy. Impossible to use as blush and I mixed some with a clear shimmery lip gloss to see if I could use it that way and it felt like sand on my lips. I'm going to grind it in my food processor to see if I can't get it to grind into a finer powder. I'm including a picture of the gloss when I wiped it off my lips to show graininess.

I love this beet powder. I use it to make pink pancakes (and more) for my girls. No one tastes the beets!
