Takes forever, works poorly
Jimmy Two HatsJanuary 12, 2018
Bought one of these as a new product and expected much better. I tried it for making cornmeal from popcorn, had to run the corn through it five different times on five increasingly fine settings to get down to a meal that was fine enough for cornbread and even then it was coarse. I don't think it's useful for grinding grains, maybe you could fine something else to run through it but I don't know what. From the days when people had nothing better.
Decent grinder

I'm using the grinder to make chicken feed from whole corn. It works good for that, but definitely doesn't grind fine enough for someone wanting to make corn meal. The grinder and base is made from cast iron, but the hopper is made from a thin sheet metal. Build quality is ok for the price, but I don't expect to pass this down to my kids.
Dangerous in my opinion do to one weak internat part.

I used it 4 times and the pin you see holding the thing with large bolts everywhere broke off into my flour.
Why make such heavy construction then put a low-grade piece of metal inside to hold it all together?
works well for home brewing

It takse some dialing in, but I am able to get a coarse enough crush/grind for brew-in-a-bag all grain brewing. I typically adjust as coarse as possible and the grains drop through without being ground, and then i just gradually close the gap until I get the grind i want, then dump the unground ones back in the hopper and grind them again.

Works good to crack whole corn for my goat kids. I'm sure they will digest much better.
