Never did like camping. My husband didn't either, but you always have those dang friends that are super into the woods and want to go camping for their birthday...no.thanks.

We committed to the trip and had to get a tent. It was also going to RAIN! No way in a million years am I sleeping on rocks and puddles. We have a Ford F150, cab and a half with 8ft bed - queue the Napier Truck Tent.

WONDERFUL. EASY SETUP (like 3 poles). NO LEAKS WITH RAIN FLY! We put down some "gym/kid mats" the puzzle kind to create a soft base before putting the tent in and you should too. The mats are cheap and 100000000% worth it to make your experience better.

We like camping now :) It's not so bad when you have an easy awesome tent.

11/10 WOULD RECOMMEND IF YOU HATE CAMPING OR NEED SOMETHING AWESOME!!
Camp Off the Ground!

I was not a camper. I hated sleeping on the cold, wet ground. Enter Napier Truck Tent and I camped! And I'll camp again!
This tent allows you to sleep off the ground, away from the damp ground and animals. It was really easy to install! My husband and I put it up in about 10-minutes. I definitely think it's a two-person job. You can assemble most of it on the ground first then set it in the truck bed to secure it. Getting all the poles in their pockets was much easier with two people. You also tighten the tent into the truck bed and having two people doing it at once - one on either side of the tent made it easy.
The tent is very tall. I think they list it as a selling point but I wish it was shorter. I took this thing camping the mountains of Colorado where it gets cold at night, even in August. Having a shorter height would have helped keep heat in the tent.
Taking down was even easier than putting it up. We did that in about 6 minutes. And miraculously, everything fit back in the bag it came in!! Without having to break a sweat!
We put it in the back of a Ford F150 normal cab, 5.5 ft. We brought a twin-sized airbed thinking one of us could sleep on that while the other slept on a camp pad. The twin airbed took up WAY too much room for that so we both slept on camp pads. That was fine but pretty hard. If you'll use it and can swing the cash, I'd splurge for the airbed they make that fits in the bed of the truck. OR I'm pretty sure a size full airbed would fit in the bed of the truck. It'd take up the whole thing but would be comfortable!
2016 Ford F150 5.5 bed with Flipbak tonneau cover.

I have used this tent several times camping. Super easy to set up and functions perfectly. I am sure I am like most people and can never bundle the tent back up for storage as it came in the box. Not a biggie to just roll it up and strap it and store it away.

For those that wonder, I also have a Flipbak VP tonneau cover. Tent set up just fine with the tonneau cover flipped up in place. Plenty of room etc.
Great Tent for a truck bed.

I purposely waited until we had a chance to use the tent before writing this review. We used this tent in an F150 with a BestTop roll up style bed cover. From the earlier reviews we did a practice run putting the tent up before going on our trip. The first time was slightly cumbersome, but not bad. Once we had it, it was easy the next several times we put it up and down. Quality was good and nothing broke or malfunctioned until the very last day. The string which held the green pole together broke the final time we disassembled the tent for the ride home. I'm going to try to get a replacement and will update this with the results. I'll I felt as if the bed of the truck was adequately protected.

The experience of using the tent was great. We camped in Colorado with weather down to 40F and up to 85F. It rained multiple times during our trip. The tent never leaked. It did have condensate, but it did not leak. The tent has a net at the top. We used this to hold our iPad and watch movies at night which was fun. The interesting part of our trip was we had to use our truck every day during the trip. I built a platform for a bed in the truck which had to be removed before removing the tent. We didn't want to disassemble the entire setup each day so I simply removed the poles, unhooked the straps and folded the tent into the back of the truck then rolled the bed cover over it all. This worked great. It also allowed me to take down and put up the tent several times in this one trip. I became pretty quick at putting it up. With help it could pop right up in 10 minutes. All of the clips and straps held strong through all of this up and down with the tent. As mentioned before, the only issue with any hardware was the string on the green pole.

Even with that one issue I think this tent is of very good quality and worthy of a high ranking. It handled the weather nicely, was simple to set up and take down and had as much room as one could possibly expect in a tent for a short bed truck. I'm happy with the purchase.

One thing you'll need to get used to is everyone asking about the tent. We had a lot of people stop by and look at the setup.

UPDATE:
Napier customer service proved to be fantastic. They sent a replacement green pole quickly. We are still very happy with this purchase.

We've had this tent for a bit over a year now and have had it out half a dozen times, at least. Weather has ranged from hotter than Hades (+100F) to colder than... well, Hades (-6F). It's been windy, rainy, dusty, you name it. We camp two adult humans and three dogs, one of them a Mastiff-Rottweiler. This tent travels well, keeps the weather out, sets up easy (even with one person). We've been able to camp some rough terrain that wasn't feasible before with a ground tent. It takes down easy, and fits back into its bag! I only have two tiny gripes about it...

Not very well ventilated. When the temps dropped to below zero on our camping trip last winter, we definitely had frost on the inside from condensation. It can get pretty stuffy in summer if you have the fly on, but no wind.

The entrance "hinge" is on the bottom of the tent, along the tailgate. We've learned to work around it. Our initial fear that the dogs' claws might snag on the meshhave not been realized. It would be nice to have the "hinge" along the side, but not sure how you'd do it considering the design.

Love this tent!
