MIDI Heaven!
OSiOS✓ Verified Purchase•September 11, 2017
Friking amazing! I had to wade through the thick latency that is Sonuus and JamOrigin to get to midi heaven.
I sadly purchased this in one last desparate attempt thinking it was going to fail just as all the others had. It arrived the next day. As I was attaching it to my cheap $50 electric my only thought was how quickly would Amazon give me my money back.
I didn't spend to much time reading the instructions and I only downloaded the TriplePlay software (I already have the DAW / VST's etc...)
It attached to my guitar flawlessly. I opened up TriplePlay in my DAW and... Heaven -.-
I opened the stand alone and freaked out as it was updating the Controler / Receiver firmware, but all went well.
Do your reaserch and then buy this thing. <3

After weeks of playing I am still getting over the shock of how impressive this device is.
My experience with guitar synthesizer goes way back to the GR-1 by Roland. Which I still have but do not use. I did upgrade to the GR-55 and have used it for both stage and studio recording. I thought that Roland finally got it right with the GR-55 until I heard about Triple Play. Over a months time I read and did research on the triple play and I finally broke down and got one. I thought to myself even if its not as good as Roland I can place it on a secondary guitar. To my surprise this is not as good as Roland, IT'S WAY BETTER!!!!!. I enjoy having full control over my sound than going through knobs and buttons on the Roland, I also hate that the Roland interface use to be so organize and now everything is scatter. Triple Play interface make sense and is organize. It's about being productive rather than spending hours turning knobs and tweaking settings.
I would love to give this product 5 stars. if I was a PC only user than I would have hit 5 stars but my PC is for animation and my MAC is for music and triple play does not play well with El Capitan. I already looked up on the FAQ about work around and etc. But its a pain to deal with on a MAC. One thing in particular is that the KONTACK 5 has triple play presets already set. Meaning that instead of having a single bank for all the strings its has all 6 banks sets up for each individual strings, so each string can be customize but those presets are not available on the MAC with El Capitan. If you don't upgrade to El Capitan, than on the MAC it should be fine (according to what I have read) but on the PC its amazing!!!!!
The setup was intense, just have patience and don't rush the process. The more time that you spend on the setup the tracking will be perfect. I took 30 minutes to check, double check and triple check the setup. The time was well worth it cause ALL my strings and yes ALL my strings are tracking perfectly .I can do chords, leads and arpeggios and it tracks dead on. I have no blunders or digital skid mark sounds while playing or recording. It tacks better than the ROLAND. If you are impatient and rush the installation process, dont blame the product.
MY setup:
I have Guitar Rig on track 1 and tracks 2 -4 I have mixture of KONTACK and REACTOR SOUND BANKS loaded and a midi foot controller connected . Talk about a full customization of sound for studio and performance!!!!!
Triple play has really blown my mind.

I'm a competent guitar player but I'm only slightly over "chopsticks" level with a piano keyboard. The Fishman TriplePlay allows me to really explore all the sounds my DAWs (ProTools and Reason) can create. As others have mentioned, intial setup can be a nightmare. Be prepared to spend several hours cursing and head scratching to get this product to work properly. However, after you have it connected correctly, software updated, and your strings/settings dialed in, it works wonderfully.
I use it on a Strat style body I made. I needed to raise the action, but not so much it impeded my ability to play normally. Otherwise, it fit perfectly. If it behaves strangely, it is always due to me not playing cleanly enough. If you like to slide, bend, hammer/pull-off, etc. often, you will need to adapt your play style a bit to the Tripleplay as it can struggle with these.
The battery will last multiple long sessions without a problem, just turn it off when you're done. It wasn't a big selling point for me, but I have come to love the wireless aspect of the device. You can easily wander around your space or hand the guitar off to someone else with no difficulty.
Most of the software that comes with the product is, in my opinion, sub-par. Think of it more as a demo of what this unit can do than actual use. This wasn't a huge disappointment for me, as I planned on plugging it into my DAWs anyway. Just understand that you will need some additional software to really take advantage of this product.
All in all, I have really enjoyed the TriplePlay. The product has performed exactly has I had expected.

Wired systems like Axon are still way better

This is a decent option for midi guitar, but it's got a long way to go, in terms of usability, tracking, and customer relations. I have been using the Axon midi pickup system for years, I've had an AX-100 and AX-50. Both of these have better tracking overall and are MUCH easier to set up. I don't shy away from complex music software with many layers of options, but this software was just counterintuitive in so many ways. Though the necessity of pairing it up and firing up the software every time was onerous, I was able to get it to work pretty well with Logic X. Then I tried it with Ableton and the tracking was terrible. I was getting stuck notes, missed notes and though I had programmed it for smooth slides and bends, it was retriggering every note when sliding or bending. I know midi guitar is tough, but they would have done better to just copy the technology that Axon was using (I believe they licensed some of it from Terratec) rather than try to reinvent the wheel and offer a standalone software. Meanwhile it seems 99% of people are just going to trigger sounds in a DAW they're already comfortable with.
Finally when I decided to go back to my trusty Axon system, it was too late to send the Fishman back, so I figured I would sell it on ebay. I found out that Fishman has the gall to charge $30 for a "reregistration" fee for the software. This is just straight up greed as far as I'm concerned. The software is no good to me if I don't have the hardware, so how is it in any way a problem for them to transfer the license to a new user? Well I'm sure they have their self-important reasons for wanting to protect the IP on their amazing proprietary software, but keep this in mind if you're thinking of purchasing it. Someone is paying a penalty, -either you or your prospective buyer- if you ever want to sell it.

Very happy with this product and I'm amazed it only has a 3 1/2 star rating! From what I've read, people order it without realizing it won't fit on their guitar and have to return it OR they have trouble waiting for software to download. I had no trouble with either of these things, it fit perfectly on my stratocaster and I had no issues waiting for the software since I've purchased software online before and know how long downloading something takes. It took about 2 1/2 hours for all the software to fully download, although I understand it will vary drastically based on your internet speed. I started all the downloads and then watched a movie and it was done.
Only 3 applications are required to run the official tripleplay software, Kontact, SampleTank and the TriplePlay software itself, although it can be used as a midi controller upon installation, no special software required. Activating the software was not a hassle, took about 15 minutes. Just leave the download on overnight and activate it in the morning. Bends, vibrato and such work perfectly, the one thing I must point out is that muted strums do not work. Overall this product has exceeded my expectations, the range is fantastic, the battery life is great, and most importantly, the tracking is excellent. Would highly recommend.
