Great for training or costume.
Poeticventure•September 24, 2017
This is a good, sturdy, yet light training axe. I got this for a costume piece since I don't think it's really legally acceptable to carry my real one around. My real axe is extremely close to the same size as this trainer axe, and it's at least twice as heavy. So while the shape and feel is nearly identical, the weight will definitely take time to get used to when shifting from trainer to real.
Overall if you want this for actual training or just as a costume piece, it will serve both purposes perfectly.

Great trainer!

This is a great trainer. I have the Trench Hawk, so this allows me to practice with a little less risk. It is still a very stiff plastic head, and will hurt/do damage if you are not careful. This is definitely not a toy.It has the exact same size and handle, so you get the same grip feel and reach. The only thing is the weight. With the plastic head, it is substantially lighter then the edged 'Hawk.
For the money it was an excellent training weapon

For the money it was an excellent training weapon. Seems well constructed. The "blade" is about 3/8 of an inch thick, so far from sharp, but it could still be dangerous. Packaging was amazon standard, showed up on time and well packaged. Everyone who has played with it at the dojo has been interested in trying to train with it. I'd buy one again.
A Great Training Hawk!
C. Stuart•March 30, 2017
I wanted a tomahawk trainer and this one looked intriguing. I had never used a tomahawk with a spike on the back, or any handle other than straight hickory. In other words, I am used to traditional tomahawks and wanted to try something different without spending to much of my hard-earned cash. I was wary of using a hawk with a spike in case it bit my shoulder or forehead!
The handle on this item is very comfortable and almost mesmerizing to me how versatile it is. Slight finger grooves near the top are great for choking up on the handle, while a straight middle allow rapid transition for a higher or lower grip. The bottom of the handle flares out like an axe handle and is comfortable and aids in a secure grip. The material is tough. The balance is good, but unknown if it accurately represents the real item. So, in sparring with this tomahawk trainer I have discovered that the spike can occasionally bounce, be pushed into, or accidentally come back into the user's shoulder or forehead! Still, as a way to experiment, spar, and train, this is a good piece of gear.

Already Bought Another Pair
Ginger P•March 8, 2017
We are a really into Martial Arts as a family. We purchased another pair (4 total) immediately after receiving the first pair. Nice weight, material and appears to be very sturdy/durable. Made in one piece so it will not become disconnected while training. Looking forward to many hours of training with these axes.
