Great knife for the price!!

This is honestly one heck of a knife! I love how you can configure the sheath for vertical or horizontal carry. I chose horizontal or "scout carry". Easily concealed behind my back and out of the way. It's virtually weightless on my belt. I ditched the spark rod and little sheath for that. It's a nice attachment, but I've got a few in my pack already so to the spare pile with this one. Overall, the knife has great weight, the sheath is durable and smooth, and despite being made in China this knife is of very good quality. Plus Buck stands behind it. For the price, its worth it! The only probably I have found after using it a few times is the handles will come loose. A dab of lock-tite fixed this issue. I will probably have my buddy design some custom wood handles for it in the future.
This knife beat a mountain lion and is very well rounded

I love this knife, i recently moved to California and all of my things are in storage for 30 days i love camping so i got this knife. I use it for everything from cutting butter to cutting wood. I was on a hike in the mountains and actually ran into a mountain lion all i had was this knife, he was growling at me about 5 feet away and ended up backing down. Maybe it was the knife maybe it was my screaming girlfriend who knows haha anyway great knife for the price you can't go wrong.
Solid, Left Handed Carry Sheath - Strong Performance Knife

Folks,
I purchased this knife for Boy Scout trips with my two sons. I mainly focus on wood processing, bush-craft handiwork, and food processing, as well as fire construction. For those tasks, I would highly recommend this knife. I don't baton with the knife, as I carry a Fiskars X7 hatchet, which does brilliantly against wood found in North Georgia. I have paired this with my Buck 346 Vantage, Scout edition and found that the knife is every bit as sharp as the Vantage. I am surprised at the quality of the knife, considering I purchased it for $45.27.
Quality: I found very small gaps / tears between the micarta handle and the steel bolster, less than a millimeter. However, the handle is "flush" with the full tang and easy to hold. A lot has already been said about this knife; therefore, I won't speak to it. I would like to discuss the sheath. It appears solid enough, and I am impressed with its ability to cross configure, given that the entire bundle was only $45. Buck even has its logo identically etched on both sides of the sheath. Most after-market sheaths sell for much more money than what I paid for both the knife and sheath. I gave the knife and sheath four stars instead of five stars because the steel bolster obviously scraps against the plastic sheath so much so that bits of the sheath (very small) fragment off and I question if the blade edge comes in contact with the sheath. What this means to me, is that I am not going to excessively pull the knife from the sheath. However, I am not going to replace the sheath either as it played an important part of my decision making process to purchase the knife.
Summary: I really struggled deciding between this knife and the Mora Garberg. The Selkirk is well made with good 420HC steel (I have several 420HC steel Bucks that have proven their worth). Ultimately, for me, the choice came down to how I use the knife (I am not a survivalist, just an outdoor enthusiast), the usability of the left-handed sheath, and cost. If you are a professional or will use the knife in more "serious" scenarios, then cost may be less of a factor for you.
Recommendation: I would recommend this knife to any left handed person who is looking for a solid performance multi-purpose camp knife for a great value. At the $45 I spent, the Selkirk was a "steal".

Looks, feels, and works great.

I really like the look and ability to adjust the holster to right where you want it. I have mine like a regular upright sheath. That was the most comfortable for me. I tried a few adjustments. It keeps a good edge. Conceals very well for the size. Mine is adjusted high on my belt so it doesn't hit my truck seat. Good everyday knife that didn't cost a lot.

Very sharp out of the box. Fit and finish on this knife is very good. I can't even see the seam where the bolster meets the blade. I barely make out the seams where the pommel is attached. The grip scales are well shaped and fit my large hands very well and blend well into the blade. The sheath works fairly well and I like the fero rod attached to the sheath but have not tried it since I don't want to scrape away the protective layer. I would prefer a leather sheath if it is heavy eneough and made properly but this plastic sheath will serve its purpose. I'm surprised to see this quality in a knife from China. I guess Buck has some good quality control at their Chinese factory.
