Very light weight and fully adjustable
JohnMay 24, 2018
I use this hiking pole as a cane to help steady myself as I walk. It seems very sturdy, however I've never had more than about 180# load on it. The hiking pole has an internal shock spring that can reduce the initial shock load going to your hand or arm, however when using this feature, it does produce a bit of "clacking" noise, that I have eventually got used to. You can lock out spring feature if desired, but it frequently slips back into the "shock spring" mode. It has 3 adjustable tube pipes, all lock with hand tight friction collars. I wanted the adjustable feature, and the unit is very light. Overall for the price, I think it was a good buy.
well made and great value for the cost

These adjustable canes are surprisingly well made and a good value for the money. They may be a little heavier than high-end trekking poles or canes but for a price that is only one quarter or one fifth the cost they can't be beat. I would encourage the manufacturers to tone down the exterior feature labels and to add another color choice even if bare metal. I especially like the J hooked handle that allow you to hang them on a hook or door knob, a feature absent in walking sticks and trekking poles
Comfortable practical good looking.

Bought a walking stick nearly like this 10 years ago in Switzerland for $60. Everything there was expensive so I have guarded it carefully. Now I have this which is even better since it has the shock feature. The older one can be left in the RV and I use this one for ever day. Easy to adjust and the spring action works great. The cork grip is very comfortable. I recommend. UPDATE: Still love this cane. I used it for hiking before but now I have problems that require almost constant use. I'm now recovering from a fractured knee cap and changed to a footed cane for awhile after I got off the walker but am now back to using this cane/walking stick, my favorite.
This cane is heavier and cheaper than most of its ...

This cane is heavier and cheaper than most of its competition. A trade off I thought ok.. Then the shock mechanism started offered little to action or deep action in unpredictable times and terrains. What looks at fist glance to be a cork handle appears to be molded plastic. OK, its cheap and its not going to have refiements a $50 or more cane has I understand that. But, the antishock mechanism worked a pointed tip through the factory installed rubber tip. I discovered this after almost falling twice on well maintained floors while shopping. Bingo.. That's it. No more Chinook for me.
Did not come with rubber tip, shock absorber mechanism unsafe
AGirlDownSouthMay 5, 2017
It was clearly stated that this came with a rubber tip, and the picture shows it with a rubber tip. However, it did not come with one. Therefore, I had to buy a new tip for it which cost $11, effectively doubling the cost of this cane. Also, you can turn the shock absorber off by twisting the lower portion of the cane making it stiff when needed. However, this mechanism is designed poorly and just by walking it repeatedly turns off and back on as it does not truly lock into either position. This is annoying at best, and could be dangerous when using in rough terrain, leading to a fall. By looking at the other reviews I thought this would be a good deal for the price. However, I am highly disappointed with this purchase.
