Took a bit to assemble but it's held up well.

The futon came in 2 boxes, ends (arm rests), and all the rest. The larger box was in rough shape with the holes and tears taped up. Pretty unusual for Fed EX.

It is attractive and nicely finished, sort of a dark oak. The wood looks to be parawood (rubber tree wood). It was made in Indonesia, reinforcing the supposition it is parawood. Parawood is a strong wood. Assembled, it is sturdy, reasonably stiff and appears strong. Laid out as a bed, I do not notice any give or flex rolling around on it, no squeaks, either, but that is why I glued the joints. It gives great naps! It needs another 3 or 4 inches from the wall to be changed from couch to bed. One adult can change it from couch to bed and back, but 2 would make it smoother.

I spent about 2 hours putting it together, laying out parts, test fitting and gluing most of the joints. The instructions are clear with good drawings and the assembly is very straightforward.

I recommend this piece to others.

The frame came it 2 boxes. I received the arms but had trouble tracking the other box since it was under the same tracking number. I contacted DCG through Amazon and had a response the next morning. They tracked the 2nd box and kept me posted on its arrival. It was only 3 days later, no big deal.

I did receive the 2nd box containing the futon frame on the day that they said it was due to be delivered.
It arrived in perfect condition.
All the proper parts were in the box.
I was able assemble the futon with the help of a friend.
The directions were fairly easy to follow and the futon was very easy to assemble. It took an hour and 20 minutes.

I am very very happy with my futon frame and the 8 inch mattes that I ordered from DCG as well.
It looks beautiful and feels sturdy as well as being very comfortable.

Very pleased with this item! Solid construction. The wood is solid, not veneer. Each element is made of smaller pieces fused together, but this is beautifully done and is structurally and aesthetically irreproachable. This is a more ecologically sound way to use wood in any case. Having had futon sofas back in grad school that were and ungainly, I must say that this is the Mercedes of futon frames. Satiny finish, color that is true to the photo, and elegant small details. Assembly takes 2.5-3 hours and is best done with somebody on hand to help out. I managed to do it completely by myself with a bit of ingenuity and one bruised toe (put some books under the rail when you're trying to line it up with the sidearms so it doesn't drop down onto your foot). The only difficult bit was the final placement of the seat and back in the frame, but I managed it and I'm a 5'7" woman, so it's doable. Other reviewers are correct that the allen wrench is a bit tight. Pay attention to the instruction that tells you NOT TO TIGHTEN BOLTS FULLY til the contributing elements are in place! I recommend getting a rubberized pad to put between the your futon mattress and this frame so the futon doesn't start sliding. One bonus aspect of this frame is that the arms are flat, so if you want a place to set a drink or something, it works well.

I'm thrilled with this frame and how easy the instructions were to follow. Easy assembly. I'm a 5'1" woman, 105 lbs and was able to put it together in about 3 hours (including a few breaks). The most difficult part for me was attaching the frame to the arms, simply because of the weight of the wood. A man, or two people, will do just fine with it. Some of the reviews said it takes two people to open, and it does not. I can do it easily, alone. The trick is to pop up the front frame slightly first, then get behind it to either lower into bed or pull up into sitting position. It's actually one of the easiest futons I've ever used. Zero complaints about anything. Buy a set of hex nut drill bits so you don't have to use their silly tool, would be my only advice. I'm thrilled with the purchase and highly recommend.
