Beautiful piece of Hardware. Perfect for my Remodel
Gary and Mirtha✓ Verified Purchase•August 10, 2017
Remodeled my Master Bathroom and this was one of the key features. Kohler is pricey but the quality makes it worth it. All of my hardware was Kohler and I not have regretted one decision.
Fantastic upgrade, but there can be some gotchas

First let me say that I love kohler. It was in the house I purchased so I wanted to stick with the same brand. So when I wanted to upgrade the shower, in comes this guy. I already liked the shower head so wanted to keep it, just wanted to add a handheld. and because of the short ceilings, a rain head was out of the question. The handheld I went with was the stick with the grey handle Kohler K-14788-GR-BN Shift Square Handshower, Grey Handle, Vibrant Brushed Nickel this really works well in this shower as its small and dosen't take up a lot of space
Was this hard to get in? Heck yes! What they say was an hour is more like 2 days! I'm no plumber, and its very recommended to read the instructions and watch a couple of videos that Kohler has on this. You can have issues crop up like the hole that the original shower head may not be straight... mine wasn't.
My house is CBS which is...interesting. I wasn't the original installer of this bathroom so I found some things that made me realize I had to think outside the box and use alternate anchors instead of what came in the box. I did have to also use my dremel and a tile bit to round out the hole where the water comes through as it was very much a jagged mess and the rail would not go through straight. And the tile is HARD and THICK large format porcelain tiles. I needed a diamond bit to even make holes in it. ( I got a makita bit, but any brand will do.) me and the water bottle sprayer went to work to get things rolling and that alone took an hour. If you're not sure of your backing, it could be cement board (or in my case concrete block!) again, you have to think outside the box if you're not the original installer. I started with smaller holes just to see how things went and gradually went to a larger one that was the size I needed for my anchor. Also a plumbers wrench is a must. a regular one really won't help get the job done (at least not in my case!)
In the end, it came out well and I didn't have to spend extra on another head. I could have went with a longer rail but I like this one. I don't have great water pressure anyway so I think staying shorter is helpful for that and it actually feels a heck of a lot stronger through the smaller handheld. The only downside is that when I'm switching the hose from one side to the other, the ball joint sometimes squirts water but I believe that because that is meant to move, a little will come out. otherwise once its not moving, its not leaking so I don't really worry about it.
Take your time. Even if it takes a couple of days its darn nice at the end.

Exactly what I wanted. It is installed and working perfect. I had a question on the wand lever at the bottom of the column, that I did not see an answer to. The unit works as shower head only, wand only, or some pressure on both. Which is what I wanted. If you are looking for this or the shorter unit, the length is full length from above the shower head riser down. I did not account for that with my original measurement.
