Plastic hardware
Combat Medic Mike•April 3, 2018
This is a good alternative if you don't want to drill into your bathroom tile or spend too much money on an all metal kit. Just keep in mind that this kit utilizes plastic mounting hardware and significant effort is needed to adjust the height of the shower head holder with just your thumb - the holder is spring loaded and uses a very heavy duty spring (it's the most durable part of the whole kit). I wouldn't recommend this item to anyone with arthritis! I promptly returned this kit and purchased an independent shower head holder that used a high quality suction cup. With my disabilities, I needed to be able to maintain the shower head at a fixed position, just at a lower height. Still, if you're in need of an affordable solution to an adjustable height shower head holder, this might be for you. However, if you have arthritis, you may want to keep shopping.
Has Some Good Aspects - But Also Some Bad Aspects - Here's What You Need to Know (Also Impossible to Set Up with One Hand)
Anne P. Mitchell•June 25, 2017
I recently broke my wrist, which means that for months I need to be able to shower without getting my arm wet (who knew wrist bones take as long as 3 months to heal??) I can hold my arm up above my head, but I still risk getting it wet. So I needed an adjustable shower head that could be *lowered* so as to only get the lower part of my body wet. And this shower bar is perfect for that!
First, the good: It works really well, and it looks very nice. The suction cups are definitely strong little suckers.
And it readily accommodates my Waterpik handheld showerhead (this one: Waterpik Power Spray ShowerHead 14 Mode Spray Settings Hand Held Shower Head with 5' Hose).
The button on the side of the showerhead holder (which you can't really see in the picture) works well to loosen the showerhead holder enough for it to slide up and down on the bar.
But, the bad: First of all, it is *very hard* to push the levers that create the suction on the suction cups firmly enough. You have to push them all the way down, and it's *hard*. While I *definitely* couldn't do it with my one good hand, I am certain I could not have done it with two hands either (and I'm in very good shape and no weakling). I had to have a very strong, tall male friend do it.
Second, as others have noted, even with the rings of the suction cup holders locked all the way down (have I mentioned how hard that is?), the bar *still* slides through the rings. This is probably because this thing is actually a *towel bar* (i.e. meant to be mounted horizontally, not vertically, and meant to have towels hung on it, not a showerhead attached to it) to which someone decided to add a showerhead holder - I kid you not, the packaging even says 'towel bar' (or at least it did on mine)). Others have mentioned using a drop of super glue to secure the bar within the rings; I haven't tried that yet (one hand here).
Finally, while your shower head will slide up and down, it doesn't pivot (i.e tilt up or down) *at all*. It is in a fixed position at a fixed angle.
Now, for a showerhead holder that you *can* affix with one hand, and that still stays put - strongly - and that *does* tilt up and down, see this one: Labkiss Shower Head Holder, Super Strong Vacuum Suction Cup Handheld Shower Bracket, Angle Adjustable. This little baby is amazing and very easy to set up. And it's only $9, so you can afford to get both the shower bar, and the Labkiss holder (I have both) and see which one works best for you (I actually kept them both). And because they are mounted with suction cups, you can easily remove one (or heck, both) if you ever want/need to.

Simple fixes for bar moving, head dropping
A. Scales•March 20, 2017
Update - after a year, the fixes have held up. Also the suction cups have not failed.
Update - thought I'd share a couple of very simple things I did to fix the issues I had.
To add more friction to the bar when positioned vertically, place O rings as shown in the picture.
To add more friction to the rotating piece that holds the shower head, remove the screw, wrap plumbers tape around the screw a few times.
I was going to glue everything up but thought I'd try something less drastic. Seems to work! I also secured the unit with cord to the pipe coming out of the wall for when the unit decides to fall it won't come crashing down.
Still giving it just 2 stars because I shouldn't have to do these fixes.
Original review:
I bought this over a year ago and finally got around to install it. Should have tried it right away as I would have returned it.
It's a great concept. Suction seems to hold very solidly on smooth surround.
But here are my issues. Mounted vertical, the bar moves too easily, eventually slipping out of the wall mount holders. There's not enough friction. The rotating piece that holds the shower head also doesn't have enough friction to hold my Waterpik at angle. Fine straight up which aims the water horizontally. There should be a lock to keep it at the desired angle. There's a screw holding the rotating piece to the holder but it's as tight as it will go.
NOTE: Some reviewers have said the holder doesn't fit their handheld. It didn't fit mine either until I flipped the bar/holder. If you look at the interior of the holder, one end is smooth, the other ribbed. The ribbed end fits my Waterpik. The instructions do not mention this detail which is easily overlooked. Also someone said it doesn't angle. It does, if you put the holder sideways to the bar. Then you can rotate it down. But, as I said above, mine doesn't have enough friction to hold the Waterpik at an angle, only straight up.
As it is, it is unusable. Since I can't return it, I'll work on modifying it to see if more friction can be added and if I find a solution, I'll edit this review.

Sturdy, looks nice, easy to adjust height and angle of shower head
B. Kondo•December 12, 2016
I installed this on the glass wall of a shower, so that in the winter, when it's cold, one can get hot water in front and back simultaneously. We squeegee the shower after each use, do the glass was clean and dry. It has stuck perfectly for over a week now, will report back if there are problems, or feel free to send a messsge and ask how it's doing after several months. It is verceady to assemble, and the height and angle adjust easily too.
PERFECT solution for preferred tilt/height for entire family
Lisa•October 28, 2016
for the economy $, it is a very good purchase. a great quick fix for my very high shower head fixture (needed for my tall partner) and the swivel tilt of my HotelSpa handheld shower head with pause/on switch is too tall for my daughter and me to reach and it restricted desired tilt. i am only using the suction cup method and it is very very strong. we did not need the full length of the bar so i locked the base piece with about 3 inches extending through the mount giving us more distributed hold and gave sections to hang wash sponges and hair claws without interference with the slide. the multi directional holder is super (it accommodates our different preferences with ease). yes, it is economy grade and not real metal solid. but my shower head is also economy grade lightweight so the mount is perfect. had top grade heavy real metal shower fixtures before and it still ended up yucky (very hard water).
