Potato Cutting Machine!
Emilio✓ Verified PurchaseMay 8, 2017
I often cook for my family and wanted a quick way to pump out some french fries for my family. It does take a little umph to get started but once in the meat of it, its a breeze. I would recomeend using the next potato to push the initial potato all the way through and so on until you get to your last potato. Cleaning is easy and although the cutter can be a bit difficult to get off the counter with the suction cups, thats what you want the suction cups to do; maintain a stable cutting rig. With patience and a couple of cuss words it comes off the counter well enough. I am really happy with the product and wish I would have bought something like this sooner.

This is a heavy duty fry cutter no doubt. I worked in my youth for In-N-Out and cut many thousands of pounds of potatoes and this one is not quite as heavy duty but is more than strong enough for me.

after one cleaning, the aluminum pusher and the frame around the blades turned black and started corroding. The black comes off on hands and food, so the cutter is going back. Unit is sturdy, but cheap Chinese metals turned this into a toxic mess. Pusher and frame also needs to be made from Stainless Steel, not highly reactive, unprotected aluminum. pictures are after rinsing with filtered water
Dull blades

This heavily built, solid looking device is marketed under different names, but it has one unforgivable defect: DULL BLADES. I honestly thought the blades had been backward, dull side facing the potato. Nope! I weigh 195 pounds and tho' I'm not an Olympic weight lifter, I'm reasonably fit and enjoy amateur arm wrestling, but this thing beat me easily. I cut the ends off the potatoes, and trimmed the sides. The only way I could cut fries with this thing was to jerk the handle several times, as if it were an impact hammer. I'll have to bolt it down to a very heavy table and use a 3 foot pipe as an extender to give more leverage. BUT that will not change the fact the fries come out rough, like the'd been treated with 60 grit sandpaper or a wood rasp. I gave this thing one more try, using the pipe for leverage and quartering the potatoes. That worked much better, but was too much fuss and the smaller of the quartered potatoes buckled under the pressure. I'll go back to cutting fries with my Fujiwara Teruyasu gyuto. It glides thru product effortlessly making clean cuts. I did not buy this thru Amazon, so returning it may be a hassle.
it's good..

I just purchased this and I have to say, it's good...too good in fact. Murdering potatoes into fries with this thing is so easy that you're done before you get to revel in the satisfaction of the act, you want to do more, but you can't possibly eat all these fries alone...can you? Maybe just one more potato...wait, do you even have enough oil to cook all this? Meh, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Seriously though this cutter is a heavy duty piece of equipment that's fun, easy to maintain and safe to use. It's designed with cleaning in mind so everything come off easily, but is immovable when mounted. I also recommend mounting vertically on a wall, it is always easier to pull down than pull or push across your body. The counter top suction cups work surprisingly well, and if I may make one more recommendation, don't try to push it if it's counter mounted - always pull, and always orient it so whichever arm you want to use has to reach across your body to get the handle - will be substantially easier. Enjoy and may the fries be with you.
