pressure gauge failed

Pressure gauge pointer fell off making gauge useless after using 10 times in first week of use.
Among the best of the Chinese made presses....

Overall, I am impressed with this press. It's pretty much exactly what I was looking for with a few, small exceptions. I wanted a press with an actual pump and a gauge on top, NOT a bottle jack press. I'm used to using high quality, USA made equipment where I work but I can't justify 4 or 5 thousand dollars for an American made press for my home shop. It was either an import or do without.
The good:
The included press plates are cut from ~1/2 inch plate steel. All of the other imports that I've seen come with cast press plates (if they come with any at all) which I think are dangerous and would never use. I was already budgeting to purchase some steel plates (admittedly, they would have been 1 inch thick but 1/2 inch is likely sufficient) so there's a hundred dollars or more that I won't have to spend. This alone jumped my review from 4 to 5 stars.
As delivered, every bolt hole was accurately drilled. Once assembled, the frame is square, the bottom supports sit flat on the floor with no wobbling and the uprights are nearly perfectly plumb.
The finish is far superior to any of the other Chinese made units that I've shopped. Most of the HF-type presses are merely spray painted right over the scale and slag on the steel. This Dake appears to be either powder coated or some sort of electrostatic enamel. A very smooth finish. It's very evident that it truly was manufactured to Dake's specifications and not just another "decal-engineered" press out of the same factory as those sold by several others under different names.
Assembly was easy and straightforward with no missing or ill fitting parts. (I did upgrade the hardware to better quality fasteners and nylon insert nuts instead of the split lock washers supplied - ~$12 - but this may have been unnecessary)
Ram deployment, after the initial air bleeding process, is quite smooth and linear. Retraction is fast and also quite smooth.
A cylinder rebuild kit is included.
The not-so-good:
Not much, really, and what there is, admittedly, is kind of nit picky.
It is still a Chinese made press and made to a pretty low price point so certain allowances are required. The pump, which looks for all the world like an EnerPac, just seems kind of toy-like and its mounting method leaves it free to move about slightly when in use.
It's surprisingly small. I know they give you the dimensions in the description, just be aware that the overall height of 5 feet is to the top of the gauge. It also seems to be narrower than some of the 10 to 12 ton rated imports. Again, not at all the fault of the press. This is probably just my inability to accurately visualize what a 2 foot by 5 foot box looks like. It's still plenty big for my needs, just pointing it out.
I can't wait to bend somethin'!

greatest press for the money, love the fact you can slide the piston left to right
Very nice!

Absolutely the nicest piece of Chinese hardware I have ever seen. It's small. Consider the width of the bolster before you buy it, as a differential pinion head may not fit through that space. I use riser blocks for that operation. Has a lot of press force for its rating. Outstanding fit and finish. Decent head pins and press plates included. Wish Dake would produce a 20 ton just like it that would upsize the frame a bit.
Costs a bit more, but in my opinion, worth the extra money over the bargain presses.

Very nice press. Apparently powder-coated parts since they all look really good after a long shipment here. Some didn't like the overall size of the press (too small), but in my crowded shop, I love the size. Went together well, everything fit up quite well. Although I haven't put it to any extreme test, I'd say it's going to do a good job. I've thought about buying a press for years, but really didn't like the upside-down bottle jack arrangement. One assembly suggestion: When you go to mount the jack, tap down the metal tab ahead of time that slips in the groove under the pump. You'll keep the pump snug against the bracket and will keep it from hopping when you pump.
