Does the job when in place, has some inconvenient features.

When in the door it is as sturdy as you could ask for. Putting it up can be awkward. The size is adjusted, as you can see in the product pictures, by dropping a pin on a bail into one of the grooves in the slider, then levering it down to expand the gate. Expanding it is fine, but to collapse it to remove it you have to lift the lever nearly vertical to pull back the adjustable half of the gate, and when you do the pin comes out of the groove and you have to reposition it when you want to use it. I solved it with a 4" by 1/2" wide strip of Gorilla tape to hold the pin down when I open the gate. When I am at the hardware store next I will buy some tiny screws and screw on a piece of plastic to replace the tape. Once that is done it will be fine.
You can buy returns and be happy

I bought this as a return. I can kind of understand why it was returned. And that's because the clasp is a little tight. But I already have had one of these for a few years and if the tightness bothered me I could spread the clasp a little. But it doesn't so I don't. I call it a clasp you could call it a U Clip I guess. I use it when I want to keep the dogs in an area it works. My pug tho, if he sees it he's out of there so keep or put by the area your going to pen up so you don't have to do the chase thing.
Nice extra wide pet gate

Wanted to replace our pet gate that had a piece you had to step over, and that narrowed access to our kitchen when it was installed. I found this pet gate that is wide enough to do the job. So far so good. It is a little awkward at times because it is so long, but that is what we needed and now we have a gate that we can totally remove when not in use, so it's not a tripping hazard like the one we took down. Very satisfied.
Exactly What I Needed

I worried that maybe this inexpensive pet gate might be difficult to adjust but it adjusts easily with no problems. It fits in my front door frame very nicely, with the rubber stoppers allowing the gate to fit snugly within the door frame. I use it to prevent my cats from getting any ideas about snagging the screen door with their claws, as I rent. This product is of a much higher quality than I expected and I'm glad I chose this gate over some of the more expensive options.
It successfully frustrated my cat and stopped him from running downstairs to scratch the carpet

This is just what I needed. I have what is basically an average width stairwell (size of a door plus about 6 inches(?)... this fits fine with about 6" to spare. It wedges itself on either wall and rests under the hand railing which makes it so he won't try to climb it. Even if he did, there's a few feet between that and the first step... so even he knows not to try.
He's in this phase where he doesn't understand that the carpet isn't a scratching post and the stairs resembles his post, so naturally, he's using it.... I can only stop him so much because I'm not always home and I do have to sleep... it has become a nightly ritual for him.. and it could be my neighbor having a dog or something... no idea. But either way, it solved the problem and only cost me $30.
Sure, the cat looked at me disappointed but I can't have him damaging the carpet either. So for what I needed it for, it did the job really well
