This is not a Wilton "bullet vise", but it is a pretty good piece of equipment. It is not a $50 junk vise either. This really is a product in between those two. Would I want this as an extreme duty vise? No. But, for a medium/light duty application, this will exceed your expectations. It holds work strong without much effort and moves smoothly.

I read the reviews and bought the 4" Yost vise. It was well packaged, and I received it without any damage or issues. The red color matches my Milwaukee bench and tool cabinet perfectly. The machining looks great, and this looks like a quality, well-made vise. The jaws line up perfectly, and the vise moves smoothly when cranking or loosening the jaw. There are 2 levers that lock down the base of the jaw, and when loosened, the vise rotates 360 degrees without effort. I bought some magnetic vise jaw covers and they work perfectly with this vise to protect marring on more delicate projects. The base-plate has a 3-hole pattern, and if I were going to make a suggestion to Yost it would be to make it 4-bolt. Just be sure to mount your vice in such a way that 2 of the mounting holes are as close to the front edge (or corner) of your bench that allows you to place something in your vice, allowing it to hang down and not hit your bench. I would also recommend supporting the underside of the bench with a 12" x 12" x 3/4" plywood to bolt through. Having said that, I have not had any issues with movement or stability, even when I am cranking down and torquing bolts/nuts. Overall, I am extremely happy with this vise, and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to anyone looking for a solid vise at a great price.

I don't always take the time to write reviews but now and again theres a tool or product that makes me feel like I need to give it the due process it deserves. This Vise is certainly one of them (obviously). It arrived within a week of ordering it, got free shipping and the packaging was wonderfully done, double boxed and padded inside, arrived in perfect condition. Beautifully accented and painted a bright crisp red that draws your attention inside of the shop. I love that the attachments are oxidized for longevity, it certainly has done the trick inside of this climate which does get relatively humid now and again. The performance of the unit is nonetheless outstanding than it's appearance and well thought packaging. It has great clamping force, the swivel base has no movement once pinched down with a relatively light touch, really doesn't take much to get it rigid enough for fixed & sturdy workstation. The anvil is well machined and of a nice covenant size for the overall construction of the unit. I applaud the innovation put into the design for adjusting the tolerances of the unit to adapt for normal wear and tear overtime. That's very nice. It's got a full lifetime warranty on the unit and accents. If the jaws mess-up, the drawbar bends, the base breaks loose, they will replace the piece or vise free of charge to the customer. Yost really won me over with this guy. I couldn't be happier with the vise itself, and its overall performance. Plus it's US produced, manufactured, & distributed... (& it shows).

I read a lot of reviews before buying this vise. It is well made and has very nice welds as others had commented and will most likely last many years. All true. Also a bonus is the lifetime warranty. I didn't see any other vises out there in this price range with that kind of warranty. The vise, has an amazingly large opening, I measured up to 6 inches... I stopped there, holds a 2 x 6 on the face side, that's impressive. Not any play in the vise, nice adjustment feature with a couple of hex screws. Very sturdy over all.

So, here's why I gave it 4 stars. 1. The handle for one, just has two rubber stoppers for ends... this could be better, and most likely I'll be calling Yost in about 10 years to send me a new handle as the rubber will probably fall off, or threading some nuts on it. 2. There were some shavings in the vise screw mechanism, (others mentioned this as well) I had to clean it and re-grease it to get it gliding properly. 3. the paint is baked on, which is good but there were quite a few imperfections, little particles in the paint and anyways... I realize this is a vise for the garage, I'm going to be hammering on it and roughing it up, but still the finish could be better. I uploaded a few pictures of the finish problems I had with the vise. I actually returned mine for another one, thinking this was a fluke and the replacement was about the same, with a few other issues, so I just kept the original one in the pictures. Way to go Amazon, you're the best!

Overall this is a very good well made vise, just don't expect perfection at this price! Should do great overall for your shop.

An incredibly solid and very smooth vise. I'm extremely happy with my purchase. It has excellent clamping force, replaceable jaws AND replaceable pipe jaws. I chose this over their other lines as it was fabricated using forged steel making it almost 3x as strong as the base grey iron vises and about 50% stronger than the ductile iron vises that they make...the only drawback is that this line isn't made in the USA.

Although this is an American company whose headquarters is literally 20 minutes down the road from my house, this is not one of their made in America vises. They do have some made in the USA lines, but as far as I can tell the forged steel vises are all made overseas. That being said, the workmanship of the vise I received was impeccable. I looked it all over at the welds, the painting, the machining. it all oozes quality.

Customer service for this vise is also top notch. As I said, the vise that I received was absolutely perfect and it's holding up quite well and has already been put to the test in some gunsmithing, pipe bending, and even as a third hand holding some finer arts and crafts projects...but somehow it snuck out of the factory missing the other rubber washer to hold the torque bar into the vise. I emailed their customer service...had an email back literally an hour later, and they overnight'ed me two washers without question. Great service!
