Great solution for receivers that can't send digital audio to Zone 2

I purchased this DAC to use with a powered optical splitter on the audio out from my TV to my receiver. This allows me to send the same audio to both the digital and analog inputs on the receiver for audio in Zone 2 on my Onkyo TX-NR636. Works as advertised. Toslink cables can't carry uncompressed 5.1, so I assumed when it said it would downmix 5.1 to stereo, I assumed it meant Dolby Digital (and the manufacturer didn't want to pay Dolby for the logo), and that assumption proved correct. It works great both for taking a 2 ch signal and making it analog, as well as downmixing the 5.1 to 2 channel, although in the latter situation it proved to be a little bit quiet. The instructions are pretty much nonexistent, so I had to figure out which way the switch needed to go for optical vs. coax, but it works great!
