Stick with the bison and the lamb
Tech Insider✓ Verified Purchase•March 21, 2017
When I was on my Whole 30 I tried a lot of them. Let me share my thoughts on it:
Beef
This is not good. It tastes like a mashup of cranberries and dirt. No lie. The bar is two dollars and I couldn't finish eating it. I literally spat it back out because it tasted so bad.
Verdict: 1/5 stars (maybe 0 out of 5 stars). Not a good start!
Lamb
Surprisingly, this doesn't really taste like lamb at all. This simply tastes like a good piece of beef jerky. I was surprised (especially after the first bar). Who knew lamb could be so tasty?
Verdict: 4/5 stars. Pretty good. Would eat again.
Turkey
Emboldened by my last try, I decided to give the turkey bars a try. Disappointment ensued again. I'm not sure how to describe this bar without making it sound terrible, but it tasted like the turkey version of the beef type. So, sub out the beef flavored dirt and replace it with turkey flavored dirt and cranberries. What happened?
Verdict: 1/5 stars. Nope. Nope. Nope.
Bison
Easily the best flavor. This tastes like a moist, BBQ version of your favorite jerky, with a little spice, but not too much.
5/5 Stars: All day. Every day.
I was surprised by the differences between the flavors. I was hoping that each bar would be of the same quality, but the quality varied enormously.
So, what do I think of EPIC Bars? Well, they're good"¦ If you get the right flavors. Stick with the bison and the lamb. These bars are tasty, delicious, and great as quick snacks when you need something to fight off the hunger monsters. If you're feeling adventurous, go ahead and try the turkey or the beef, but don't get more than one of each, unless you like the taste of pain in your mouth. EPIC Bars, when they're good, are epically good, but when they're bad, they're epically bad!
The bars cost ~$3 each and are a (slightly undersized), but I'll keep a few bison and lamb bars around in case of a hunger emergency (just don't make me eat the turkey or beef again please!).

I do like the salmon
Mesmee✓ Verified Purchase•March 17, 2017
I have tried a few varieties of this bar. I do like the salmon, nice flavor, a little too salty. The main issue though with the salmon is that these are so dry. I understand this is a dried product but I have had the bison, venison, and chicken and none were this dry. I suppose it is the consistency of the fish. I prefer to eat salmon but these were not as good as the others I tried.
What is this white stuff?! UPDATED with Answer!

So, ever since I've discovered Epic in Stores, I love their products. So, I thought why not order subscribe and save and have them all the time!
They arrived and have this white coating on them in random spots. It looks like mold, but could be anything. I have no idea and am scared to eat them until I hear back from Epic.
I currently have a call and email into the company and hope to hear back. Once I do, I will update my review.
UPDATED!!
The white residue is NORMAL! I repeat normal. AS LONG AS the vacuum seal HAS NOT been compromised and it's within the expiration date.
It's called fat migration, where the fat in the bar migrates to the outside of the bar. Epic responded awesomely and sent me a new box. They reassured me it's not a food safety issue and it's more of a cosmetic problem that they are currently working on. So, there ya go!

Awesome protein bars!

I loved this product! A little peppery but still awesome! My husband and I and even my 6yr daughter and 18mon old loves the venison. The bison with cranberry is excellent too!
Changed formula and made it less healthy.
Travis M. Teague✓ Verified Purchase•August 10, 2016
They changed the formula on these with my last shipment.
These were never the best jerky/meat bars, but I was looking for something with a little less sodium, and a higher protein to carb ratio than most others.
With the new formula they have reduced the protein amount by 30%, increased the carbs ever so slightly and went up on the sodium by 50%.
The new formula tastes about the same, to slightly worse, and it's slightly less healthy for you. I had subscribed to this, but no longer.
The old nutrition label is at the top of the photo and the new nutrition label is the bottom half.
