Your 1 year old may become obsessed with this

Highly recommended toy for all toddlers!
Both of my small children would give this bus five stars, but because it has broken in several places, I am deducting a star.
I live in New York and both of my kids are obsessed with the buses that go by, so much so, that each of their first words was "bus." (I assure you, I couldn't care less about the buses and did not encourage this. It must be the shape, color, and movement of the buses that attracts toddlers.) I bought the first child one of these, it instantly became his favorite toy, and was starting to be forgotten when, voila!, his younger sibling got interested in his beloved "city bus." I bought a second one, and they use them to play together. It is easy for a 13 month old to grasp and play with.
I understand that the description indicates it is not for small children, but even a short 2-foot drop knocks off a sideview mirror, cracks the windshield, or displaces the door. I recommend using heavy duty clear packaging tape for a replacement windshield -- our replacement windshield has held up for about two years of heavy use.

I got this bus for my 2 year old son. I know its supposed to be for older kids but.. My son loves city buses. Every time he sees one he goes crazy and points at it, waves at it, and screams until we acknowledge that there is a bus. I figured it might be a good idea to get him a NYC bus and he loves it. He takes it everywhere we go and even sleeps with it. it is fairly well built mostly plastic but not cheap plastic. However, the way a 2 year old grabs their toys it is expected to scratch and possibly crack although it hasn't cracked yet. After the first week both of the mirrors were gone. Overall, I'd say its a good purchase. I'll probably get him the longer city bus when he gets older and is able to better take care of toys but for now this one will do.
Gift for grandson

Great Collectible, but

This is a great collectible and I have always wanted something like it. Perhaps one day someone will create one with lights and sounds. But for those complaining about durability, keep in mind this is really an adult collectible. Not made for rough play. Not that there is a rule that says you can't buy for a child. Those who aren't collectors often view these things as a childs' toy. Please keep in mind small parts and that it is not sturdy for a child as opposed to an adult and you won't be disappointed.
