Quality clip! It costs a few dollars more than the nearest equivalent, but you get what you pay for. The construction is sound, it holds in place nicely, and haven't had any issues for the last 4 months since I've had it. The clip is held in place to the dualshock 4 via specialized rubber "bands", but it's tough and has not fallen off or given me any trouble at all. They also included an additional spare pair (2 extra) just in case. To my amazement, the clip itself extends for about 6 inches or so, so it has no trouble holding in any cell phone even with a thick case on it... I'm willing to bet you can even hold a small pad of some sort, like a Kindle. I had a screw fall off after it came undone (I forgot to screw it in tightly) and when I emailed the seller they took care of it without any hassle... That's quality service.

Buy the clip, you'll know where the extra 3 dollars or so went when you see the build quality.

This does not receive a perfect 5-stars because the spring clip that holds on the mobile device does not adjust/resize for THICKNESS (depth) of the devices only the HEIGHT of the device. That means my PS Vita with its rubber safety case is just a bit too deep/thick to perfectly fit into the top clip, even though the clip has a spring and resizes to a perfect height. Thus, I have to be careful it doesn't flip out while playing. As for the way the unit is "mounted" on to the Dualshock 4 controller, it uses a plastic mold held by two tough black rubber bands. Before you say "oh yuck rubber bands?" note mine came with TWO EXTRA in case one breaks, and it's all molded properly so nothing gets in the way of any of the controllers buttons or functions. Also: As of December 2014, Sony requires two paid PSN accounts to use a Vita for PS4 games like this; the 1st PSN account for the PS4/Vita screen control, and the 2nd PSN account for the DS4 to use. I have to login to the 2 PSN accounts on PS4 using the Vita/DS4 "backwards" from what you expect. I suggest you read about this before buying. I hope Sony updates its firmwares soon to make this easier, but I was able to make it work!

Bought this to use the DS4 with the PS Vita. By reading other reviews, this hardly can hold the vita since the vita is too thick (and I have the slim version). It will just fall right off.

A guy on youtube mod his smart clip with some plastic at the top and bottom to hold the vita firmly in place. I decided to do the same but had trouble finding the "correct" plastic to do the least amount of modding. I ended up buying a light switch wall plate (in black color) since it has the most important thing I was looking for aka edges that would hold the vita in place. I started cutting it in half vertically. Cutting the top and bottom edges off. I use one piece for the bottom and one for the top. I made the top short since I don't want it covering the vita's power/volume buttons. Started to sand down the pieces and also the "teeth" on the smart clip. I use 2 part epoxy to glue the top and bottom plastic pieces in place. I had it clip the vita to keep pressure while the epoxy cured.

I didn't really want to mod the smart clip in a way where I can't go back the the factory original, but since it's 10 bucks, I can always get another one. I use a dremel tool to do the sanding/cutting on the wall plate. Seem pretty excessive but it took 15 minutes to do.

This was a great buy compared to the OEM 39-50 dollar ones available for Sony and Verizon. I liked the idea of a clamp for you phone instead of the suction cup as well. If I had a Sony tablet then I can see how the suction cup would have benefit me. It is very easy to attached. Comes with 4 rubber bands and the holder. My Sony Z3v fits just fine and the knobs tighten just nice and snug. The phone never falls down or anything like that. I just plug my headset in and go! This makes it great because there are nights where I just want to stay in the warm bed and play my games or I can see this on nice warm nights outside on the porch playing and relaxing. Don't get me wrong, this will never take place of my 50 inch plasma but I will definitely use this alot. I actually give the product 4.5 stars. The reason why I took a half a star is because the clamp is slightly thick at the top making hitting the options button a little bothersome. It isn't dreadful or anything but you do have to kind of stick your finger in just a little bit to press the button. Other than that no regrets and saved me money!

My only complaint with this is that I can't have my phone perfectly center on it without it activating the volume keys. A way they could improve this is having a little channel on either side so the buttons can stick out without being pressed while the phone is held. Depending on your phone size, you may be dealing with a heavy controller. I suggest resting it on your lap while you play instead of holding it to your chest or in front of you.
