Sturdy bags- would be perfect for vacuum sealing food- which I purchased these for. However- on inspecting my 11" roll- I found 2 insects smashed inside of the plastic (between layers, where food would be placed) In different areas about 3 feet into the roll.
I returned the product but am attaching the photos.
I'm sure this isn't a normal problem- it's as funny as it is gross.

I normally wouldn't write a review for bags, but I had to because of this. Initially I bought these for my FoodSaver for a section hike of the Appalachian Trail, and they were great for that. Not only did I package several of my own foods, but I used it for my emergency long underwear to keep them dry and it compressed quite well.

Since then, I've invested in a Joule Sous Vide machine which I love, as do all of my friends whom I've prepared meals for. I put the spices into these bags and seal them up ahead of time in the freezer so it's all ready to go. I've done burgers, and steaks so far with no problems. Well the other day I had my friend over from out of town and decided I'd make them ribs. 40 hours of sous vide, sealed in with brown sugar, salt and pepper, little paprika. Ribs look delectable when pulled from the water bath. Cut them open from the bags, and OMG what happened? It smelled horrible. I sincerely think that the bags began breaking down or something. I was able to save the recipe a bit with my homemade bbq sauce, but the underlying odor was still there. I ended up throwing away a full rack of ribs because it was just too bad.

So I think these are okay for your quick hit sous vide recipes and other general storage, but be way of long slow cooks.

So far so good. I'm a first time vacuum sealer user & opted to try these bags for my first go round. I have wanted to start storing my food by using a vacuum sealer for quite some time but hadn't found the right one.

The bags are pretty heavy duty for my needs. Right now I'm mainly freezing smoothie ingredients. They seal really well most of the times they vacuum really well. Only problem I had at first was being able to cut them evenly, but I have a paper cutter and decided to try it & it seemed to work ok. Have to run it across twice and it cuts pretty even.

I do buy meats in bulk so this will definitely come in handy with my
Veesun Vacuum Sealer, see link below.

We got through half a cow a year out here, literally, half a cow, ordered from a friend's farm and picked up in boxes from butcher. To make it last we repackage the meat in food saver bags and store in a deep freezer. This year we forgot to get the bags at Costco before leaving Fargo so I ordered these and hoped for the best. They work just as well as the brand name, the only difference is there is no little white space to label it. didn't matter too terribly much since I just scribbled on the smooth side. Make sure you seal it smooth side down, for whatever reason that made a difference in the sucking power of our machine with these bags. TOTALLY worth the money by cutting out the need for a little label line. I still have some left and will order this one again next year.

I have an older model FoodSaver and use it regularly. I always used Foodsaver brand bags, and I am sorry I wasted my money on the garbage I received in this order. The 8 inch bags will not suck out any air at all - they just seal. Tried over and over again with several different items of food to no avail. Then I tried the 11 inch roll. Eventually I got one to vacuum, but it took FOREVER, with a noticeable strain on the motor. At this rate it would take me several days to seal a few steaks, and probably burn out the machine in the process. I got out the original genuine Foodsaver Bags (purchased at Target) and they still work fine (just to double check that the problem was not with the machine). 6 packages in no time at all. Don't waste your time or money on this garbage, it's not worth the hassle.
