I just replaced my old Belkin cooling platform with this new one. The old one lasted roughly 10 years. It is well worth the money and I HIGHLY recommend it.
Not designed for lapdesks, but works great so it would be perfect for a flat surface desk or table.

Function-wise this works great, I can feel the cool air coming THROUGH the plastic of my laptop desk because it works so well. Design-wise I'm a little disappointed, it's probably made more to be used on a desk than a lapdesk. The grip pads aren't very grippy, so when I put it on my lap-desk (and it elevates the laptop to allow airflow on its own) if my lap goes to any more than a slight angle my laptop slides right off and hits me in the stomach. It makes it a balancing act to use, so I only pop it on periodically when I'm working for a long time just to cool things down. If the grip pads worked better this would be five stars.

I was lucky enough to get this at $7 on a Black Friday deal but this is a very good basic laptop cooling pad. The design is simple and when it's plugged into the USB port it's on and when you take it out it turns off. It is plastic but is sturdy and doesn't feel cheap. The rubber grip on both the bottom (for the surface it is sitting on) and the top (to hold the computer) works very well. It is also pretty quiet and unnoticeable when in use.
