Terrible gardeners like me need all the help we can get when it comes to keeping plants alive. I used to just buy my shrubs and flowers, stick them in the ground, and hope for the best; with that program, about half had to be replaced every year. A specialist at my local tree farm advised me to start using Osmocote as a soil additive, to make up for the deficient clay dirt we seem to have around here.
I've used this both for existing and new plantings, and so far so good. Flowering plants suddenly have color again! More importantly, I've got no "garden death" this year, despite the heart, wind, and my poor tending skills. Professionals could probably say more definitely whether this stuff makes that big of a difference, but amateurs can just be relieved they're doing something to help the garden!

Easy to forget when you last applied this product...put date with a marker on the container to remember... I use on everything I have that day and your done good in containers too..mix a little in the potting soil your creating... Overall a great use and forget product for your garden...

This is a large bag, perfect for my large garden beds. The resealable bag includes a little plastic scoop. Just keep in mind that if you are ordering this on subsc & save, to WATCH OUT! Amzon is known to creep up the prices over time--once you are lulled into complacency from the convenience of it all--but did you know that you might get charged a price that is substantially higher than what it shows you on your subscriptions page? I happened upon this practice when I noticed that there was approximately a 25-33% premium being charged on some items in my S&S order. This was different from the price that Amzon said I was being charged when I was reviewing my order. It only showed the true price on the back-end. Customer service basically replied saying they don't do post-purchase adjustments. They were not interested in fixing this issue for the consumer.

I have been using this for over 20 years and each year I get large full flowering plants. It was recommended to me by a nursery and since I started using it, I have had wonderful success. I do use a little more than what is recommended on the package and because it is slow release, the plants are not burned from a little extra. I would recommend this and I will not use any other fertilizer.

I put this on my vegetable garden March 30 after planting small tomato plants from Walmart two weeks prior and sowing peas and green beans 4weeks prior. I live in the Nature Coast of Florida. We don't have soil, we have sand. I had improved it with mulch and goat berries from our goat pen, but after the Osmocote the plants really took off! It's April 25 and my tomato plants are now almost 5 feet tall! I've been harvesting beans and sweet Italian peppers already and my pea vines are developing tons of pods.
I have been mainly using goat berries for fertilizer the last few years, as it's free from our goats, but last year we had a disappointing harvest, so I decided to give Osmocote a try. I definitely see a BIG difference in the growth of my vegetable garden this year. It's a bit pricey, but you only use a little and you only use it every 4 months, so, it really isn't that bad when you think about it. I have been recommending it to all my friends who garden.
