Magellan Mount

I got this for my 1700 RoadMate. I have a Mid 90's F-150 Extended Cab, and it has a curved dash, so I needed something that was not restricting my view, but was also securely holding the GPS. As it is a 7" Screen, I tried on the Dash, and it was OK, but this GPS is Big. I didn't like it on top. After a few minutes of trial and error, I realized I could mount it to the lower portion of the dash, between the vents for your feet. The telescoping feature of the mount and it's ease of adjustment made it a breeze to adjust, and it looks sweet underneath the AC/Heater Controls section of the dash. I have had it in place for a few weeks now, and it has not moved. I thought there would be a vibration issue while going down the road, but have not experienced an issue with that, either. Because of the design, your only limitations of mounting is your imagination. I highly recommend this product.
surprisingly solid mount on somewhat rough surface

I bought this with some trepidation, but I accepted the reviews offered by others as a very good sign. I also bought a 7" Magellan GPS, so I needed a solid fixture. I was very pleased to see that it fastened very well to the surface of the dash on a relatively level surface above the radio/cd face on a 2012 Nissan Frontier pickup. I tried it first on the windshield, where it worked very well but due to the size and weight of the GPS, I felt it was going to be in the way. I then chose to put it on the dash, not expecting it to work, as the surface is not smooth. Was I delighted to see that it does hold quite well! I have used the GPS a few times, allowing the GPS screen to extend outward and downward, experimenting with positions and locations. The device is very easy to adjust to a variety of positions, extending the reach and/or allowing the user to raise, lower and reposition with a minimum of effort. I do find it a bit limiting, in that it takes two hands to make adjustments, and clearly is designed for the Magellan mount. It has a large face that would work with with other 6" to 7" devices, were the mounts available. I can also see it might work well for a similarly sized tablet. The GPS removes very quickly and easily with the press of a single button on the face, allowing the GPS bracket to slide upwards and free. I am a little concerned by the weight it is supporting, noting that while driving, some moderate bouncing motion. I anticipate that over time, the fatigue will cause either the nuts securing the positions to loosen or the loss of suction from the base. I have attached a lanyard/loop to pass under the neck of the mount, extending over the neck of the rearview mirror, to catch the screen and keep it from crashing to the floor should it come loose. I am searching for a more convienent location for this screen, where it will be slightly less obtrusive, and I expect that this mount will vital. The mount that comes with the GPS is simply too short and limiting for a 7" screen on a pickup this size, and it does not mount as securely. For larger RVs or interiors, it would be even better. The cost on it is excessive, but the alternatives are very limited. For me, it seems to be money well spent.
Pretty good

Solid piece as long as its not extended all the way out or supported. I bought this for my patrol car because the windshield is so far forward of the dashboard. It brings the GPS into a usable distance but found that it needs to be supported by the dashboard, or another part of the car, or it will bounce around like crazy! The suction cup is awesome and doesn't come loose like most other GPS mounts I have dealt with. Overall a good item at a good price, but there are some drawbacks.
The King of all suction-cup mounts

I wanted some more reach and adjustment on a suction-cup mount, and was impressed by this when it arrived. It was actually a bit larger and beefier than I was expecting. The two pivots and the ability to change the length are great. It's very well made. I actually ended up using a different mount, but I'm keeping this. I wouldn't want it to go out of production and not be able to get it, if I need it in the future for another vehicle/device combination. Note, other reviews say this is well worth it for $40, but it's listed at less than $20 recently. This is in a class above other mounts in that lower price range. Do not be deceived.
The suction is better than the original!

Great suction and since I have a full size truck, it will put my roadmate down where I can access it easier. Have not gone on a trip but this has to be better than driving 1000 miles with your GPS lying on the console next to you!
