I was a fan of Seachem products

I heard a lot of reviews saying this product was dusty and hard to wash but I didn't believe it until I saw it myself.
The sand was more of a charcoal grey rather than black when it's in the water.
Half of the sand was very fine. So fine that it washed away with the water when I tried to rinse it despite how careful I was. By the time I was done, barely half of the bag was left. In the pictures, you can see that it made a mess of the bathtub. It was not possible to gather back the fine particles that washed out with the water.
It is very dusty. No matter how much I tired, I couldn't get rid of the dust particles. Eventually, I gave up and put the sand into my tank. The water remained murky for hours and did not settle.
I used this for my ten gallon tank, mixing it with the gravel I already had. It barely raised the substrate up to a third of an inch. For this price, there are a lot better substrate you can get. This was the first time I regretted getting a Seachem product.

Excellent and no problem with cloudiness.
Results are worth the extra effort in cleaning.

This product is dusty, but worth the effort of washing it really well. Be advised I washed the 7.7lb for about 45 minutes to clear most of the dust before placing it in my Fluval Spec V. My experience was exceptional with this product and it looks beautiful in the tank. When arranging/planting a low dust rises, but settles pretty much immediately.
My advise is to do the following: Wash, wash & wash again. I washed mine in the bag first, then transferred it to a 5 gallon bucket. Place in tank without water. Place plants/decorations in tank. Cover the substrate with a paper towel and gently pour the treated water into the tank.
My results using the following steps had my tank crystal clear in about an hour or so and the water was never as dirty as I've seen in videos - maybe a little tinge of darkness. Hope this helps. The results are worth it!
