Bought as gift for an owner. The techincal support is very bad, if you lock your account or try to get a new password, it takes days.
The scanner will let you use it free for about 90 days and then you are required to purchase a service to keep it running.
Not recommend to purchase. The biggest waste there is.

Initially this worked great. It really helped me to go paperless and move everything to the cloud...until a couple of months ago it stopped being able to upload to Evernote. Apparently a lot of people are having the same problem because the discussion boards are full of some really upset people. The company isn't very good at communicating what they are doing to fix the problem or if they are doing anything to fix the problem. Emails to them only generate canned responses.

This is a WASTE of a machine. I bought this after having a pretty good experience with the Neat Desktop. I needed a machine that would upload directly to Google Drive.
Neat advertises this as a "CLOUD" scanner, yet it doesn't work!
Here is the email text I just received from their customer support
"Thank you for contacting Neat. We're very sorry for any inconvenience this issue has caused you. We are currently experiencing connectivity issues which affect adding Dropbox and OneDrive as a destination on the NeatConnect Scanner. An update will be provided once a solution is identified. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue. However, there isn't an ETA."

DO NOT spend the money on this scanner! It is NOT worth it!

We purchased this scanner with high hopes, which were set from doing a LOT of investigation into scanners of this sort. But, Neat won out against the competitors, because it claimed to be the best at integrating with QuickBooks Online. It did "integrate" but it was more like using Dropbox and a regular old scanner than anything special, as the marketing would suggest it is. Also, our scanner broke a couple of months later.

And, it could never hook up to the internet...not once...ever.

Because we not only were sold a lie, but also the machine never worked right and now is truly just broken, we contacted Neat. We don't want the machine. It is worthless. They will not help us. We bought it through Amazon, so they blame Amazon. But, this is not appropriate as #1. it is a Neat problem, #2 it wasn't an Amazon product - it was a Neat product (sold by Neat thru Amazon).

Then, they said it's been too long. We only had 1 month to make a decision if it was worth it. Ridiculous.

It scans quickly but the customer support is non-existent after a few months. This is an issue since it seems to get knocked offline and I still can't figure out how to scan directly to dropbox as their ad states. You can scan to an ftp server and pull it to your computer, or you can scan to send via email, or you can scan to the memory and then disconnect from the internet and connect to the scanner then go to their neat connect interface and find you scans then click the scan to open and then save as pdf to your machine. However, their interface leaves much to be desired. It doesn't scan things in order of time and it saves everything you have to manually delete things one at a time from the scanner and not from the online interface connection. There fore sometimes I go to try to find a scan and it's not at the top of the list though I just scanned it, it's somewhere else and I have to keep clicking to open different files because the naming structure is also not able to be changed on the scanner and you can't tell one file from another. Not so great or easy but once the software interface is upgraded and/or you can put your dropbox information in and scan directly to a dropbox file it will be a great product.
