Works well with my 3-year old Android phone and Samsung tablet

Very good. I also previously used the ScanTool 426101 OBDLink MX Bluetooth: Professional OBD-II Scan Tool for Android & Windows (not the Wifi version).
Like the MX Bluetooth model, I leave the LX plugged into my vehicle's OBD-II underdash port all the time and it hasn't caused any noticeable battery drain when the vehicle it turned off and left for a couple of days.
I use the OBDLink LX with the Torque Pro app and it works fine. I'm able to monitor a whole slew of functions on my running vehicle and can read and reset trouble codes should they occur. I haven't used the free OBDLink app or the free version of Torque.
I find the OBDLink LX Bluetooth to be a more economical alternative to the slightly higher priced ScanTool 426101 OBDLink MX Bluetooth: Professional OBD-II Scan Tool for Android & Windows while retaining the same functionality except for some additional Ford and GM CAN Bus capability for the MX model.

This products causes engine light issue

I had to say there was a problem with this product. It worked as described at first, but I found out later there was a issue on my car caused by this product.
My car (Chevy Malibu 2012) showed its engine light on, and I brought it to a repair shop. They diagnosed it, and changed oil, filter etc and charged me a lot. However the engine light showed up again soon later. So I needed to brought my car back to them. They were not able to figure out the issue. Then I brought the car to another repair shop. At fist they couldn't figure our either, but said this product might cause the problem. I was surprised because I thought ODBLink only reads signal from car and not produce any signal to car. However I follow the service man's advice and remove ODBLink. And engine lump never show up again, meaning this product actually caused the problem.

This OBD device paid for itself in less than a month. A check engine light was quickly determined to be related to recent work. Instead of taking the vehicle to the sevice center for a checkup and repair we used the device to reset the check engine light which has not reappeared saving a service fee. As there was no loss of performance even when the light was on we have determined (from the error code) that it was a spurious oil pressure reading.
The phone or tablet interface is very easy to customize and there is plenty of performance and diagnostic data available for the user. We have also used the manifold pressure data to determine that an unusual noise during hard acceleration was not a pressure leak but an aging muffler. The fit is good and the device appears to be durable. We will see how long it lasts.
It would be nice if there was a ScanTool source of codes that could be downloaded for specific vehicles as we had to go to the net to determine what the code was.

Save yourself repeated trips to the mechanic

The mechanic reset my code and said it was a faulty reading, well it was but that is because it wasn't detecting the blown spark plugs. After buying this I was able to get a better idea and locate the case of my issues.
I really enjoy this so far, but I wish i had a better way to secure it in my vehicle. I may end up having to tape it into place to get live results without it falling out[may just be my vehicle?]. The software is very good and just had a firmware upgrade to the unit; which is a pleasant surprise and makes me feel more confident i made the right purchase.

Good quality OBD reader and app

I have had other cheap scanners and have had a bad experience with one of them (ELM327 replica) which caused an issue with the car not turning off and all gauges stopped working. That's when I decided to spend a bit more in a better product.
I do not regret the decision to buy the ScanTool LX.
You can immediately see the quality step up from the generic cheap scanners when you first unbox it. The power saving feature lets you leave it in the car without any worry of battery drainage. The bluetooth pair button is also a good security feature.
The provided OBDlink app is great to display sensor info, with beautiful customizable gauges. The embedded performance feature is also interesting to do some 0-60 or quarter mile times.
I still have to explore the functions when it comes to ECU error codes live or stored. Since all cars I have tried it on were virtually new and have add no ECU codes to diagnose.
