Definitely great for teaching new players how to play, though it likely contains the older instructions, which are less clear. I built my main deck off of the included Rainbow Dash/Rarity deck. They are not outplayed by the new expansions, either. I carry these two decks with me whenever I plan on playing cards, if only to teach others how to play.

Each of these is half of what you need to play, so this set gives you exactly what you need to start playing. Each one also comes with an extra home character card so you have a little bit of choice even if you haven't purchased any booster packs yet. I would actually recommend this over the 2-player box set because of those 2 extra cards since that is really the only difference.

The boxes looked nice and the game is awesome. Me and my friends are having trouble trying to figure it out lol. It's too complicated but I like that. We'll get the hang of it. Fair warning this game is pretty hard to learn.
